Re: 6WC 6 Week Challenge - Aug 2018
Was about to ask the same question for podcasts lol.
Yesterday, while working, I listened to 2.5 hours of podcasts and logged 30 minutes into Twitter. And I watched Spanish subtitled videos for 60 minutes and logged 15 minutes. I try to be as honest as possible because there is no way that I can concentrate for almost 4 hours on Spanish
I think we had some issues with this before, no? I go with ~40% if I listen to something comprehensible while doing other tasks. I don't log any while listening (for enjoyment) to music or watching (for enjoyment) Spanish videos above my level.
Would also love some clarity on this

Everything counts, but you are supposed to consider how much you are paying attention and discount the time accordingly. So, if your attention is drifting in and out, then you might only want to count half or a quarter of the time. Use your judgement.

The first number is target language hours. It doesn’t matter which target language. So, if your target language is Japanese, and you have 1.8 hours, than someone who’s target language is French who has 3 hours would still be ahead of you on the list. The second number is total hours. You can count hours in any language you study. Most of us study several. My target language is Tswana, but I’m also studying German, Spanish and Japanese. The first number includes only the time I’ve spent studying Tswana. The second number includes time spent studying any language.
Thank you for the explanation. I like the idea that the challenge also takes into account other languages you study: I thought it was only counting languages that you are focusing on. Nonetheless, since I had already set my mind on focusing on Japanese this month, I will stick to that and permit myself to work on other languages in September.

What language is she studying? At first I thought she was a_small_wave, but knowing smallwhite, the stats don't make sense.

Seems like Rick found the easiest goal ever - as far as I can see, smallwhite hasn't joined this time

You may want to read the howto page which answers the various questions you've been asking about the 6wc such as start dates and radio:

Looks like I need to rewrite the whole OP next time.
