Sorry if I'm flooding, but are there any challenges in January 2018?
I was looking thoroughly, but could not find anything suitable.

Re: Any challenges January 2018?
The 2018 Output Challenge will start in January, but a new thread hasn’t been made yet. You can look at the old one to see what it is about. The next 6 Week Challenge doesn’t start until February and the Super Challenge starts in May. Somewhere around here is a thread about the 30 day Speaking Challenge. It isn’t run by anyone here, but rather on a Facebook group. Some forum members have participated though. It goes every month. Some study groups might have challenges too, but that’s usually limited to one language or language family.

The Tadoku reading challenge also starts in January
(BTW flooding seems to be an obsolete term in English these days )

I'm glad you brought that up, Serpent. I'm a native-speaker and I'd never heard or seen "flooding" used in that context and I lived in England for 10 years too.

Re: Any challenges January 2018?
I still don't know what challenge is the most suitable for participating with English.
Besides, I am not sure if I manage to be consistent enough learning my target language.
I have a great deal of free time in January and February, then university studies and work will start, then again a good deal of free time in the summer.

Re: Any challenges January 2018?
Well Tadoku lasts all of January https://forum.language-learners.org/vie ... =21&t=1197 There will be further rounds later in the year and you can choose which ones you'd like to participate in.
Flooding had a pretty specific meaning in English but it's become much more general in Russian (and apparently also Portuguese). In Russian it's pronounced with a u-sound btw (rhymes with mood)
Also that's offtopic but to Russians "offtopic" (offtopik/оффтопик) sounds like a diminutive, so that a more official-sounding word "оффтоп" has been back-formed Many Russians also say "offtop" in English

We can't know what you did see and found unsuitable.
You can always start a challenge yourself.
If you're starting a thread in the "Language Challenges" sub-forum anyway, you might as well start a challenge.

It was me who moved the thread here @Ольга, it doesn't say so explicitly but generally the multilingual room is not the right place for threads in English.
