Re: Learning challenges
I kept thinking about taking part in the Music Challenge, because I do listen to a lot of Croatian music, but I never got round to it. I think it was the idea of committing to listening to a certain amount of songs in a short timeframe that put me off. I haven't made any resolutions this year that require me to do something every day, or even every week and I feel happier without the pressure of it. So while I will continue posting music in my log, I probably won't manage to meet the rules of the organised challenge any time soon.

Re: Learning challenges
Well the challenge doesn't require you to do anything every week, just when you feel like it
I myself probably struggle mostly because I often go on a spree and listen to 3-6 new songs at a time, but this doesn't guarantee that I'll listen to anything the next day - in fact this makes me less likely to seek out new music.
@ Gary, Clare, would you be more interested if the options were one album or 10 random songs, in both cases just listened within the same week or month, rather than 1-2 songs daily, with the unnecessary pressure to listen to "something" just to continue the streak, even if you're not in the mood and busy? It was supposed to be more about allowing yourself to listen to music when you feel pressured to do something else, not vice versa If there's any way to tweak it for your needs, I can probably do it
@Spoonary would you be fine with making it monthly?

Re: Learning challenges
Monthly would be much more manageable for me
Stuff can unexpectedly go wrong in the timespan of a week which means I have less spare time than I expect. But over the course of a month it ought to even out.

I wouldn't mind at all. It's your challenge, do with it as you will

Re: Learning challenges
But you're almost the only one who's expressed interest this yearSpoonary wrote:Serpent wrote:@Spoonary would you be fine with making it monthly?

I've changed it to monthly, with the following options:
- 1 album
- 10 songs
- 15 songs
The challenges are not mutually exclusive, in case anyone wants to listen to 25 songs or even more
Also just reminding that there's a revision challenge as well, for getting to know songs better (translating, playing on lyricstraining etc).

Re: Learning challenges
Excellent! I have just added myself to the 'Album' column for January. As I mentioned on my log, I listened to the album Finisterra by Mägo de Oz (Spanish).
Serpent, maybe you should make a thread for the Music challenge. That way, more people are likely to see it and it might persuade them to take part. Besides, it would give us a place to share what exactly we have listened to each month in one place, rather than it being spread out in our personal logs...
