To keep some language learning discussion going, let me remind you about the various challenges : )
The music challenge is on all year. It's not been popular so far but this seems like a fun activity for the summer
(BTW, lyricstraining.com has added Catalan, Turkish and Japanese romaji)
There will also be a 6 week challenge in August and a two-week Tadoku at the end of the summer (starting from August 15).
In fact if anyone is out of ideas for what to do while HTLAL is gone, I challenge you to choose your language(s) for 6WC and/or Tadoku and discover some music in them For 6WC you can choose only one main language, for Tadoku three. (Tadoku is also known as "read more or die" )

Re: Learning challenges
I'm personally skipping the August 6WC, and for Tadoku I'll do Swedish and Belarusian. And one more language like maybe Romanian or Danish

Turkic challenge is still on. It's Uzbek until Sep. 30 and then Kazakh from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.
I was about to put an entry in my log today about my first impression of Uzbek, but well...

Re: Learning challenges
Three months for Uzbek? If I don't run out of resources first, I will reach fluency :p (at least according to web-celebrities' standards).

Re: Learning challenges
I so totally blew it on the last 6WC that I'll be doing the August one (and the November one.)
Was there a challenge for just reading? I remember one for watching movies but my skill isn't to that level yet.

Re: Learning challenges
rdearman, is the output challenge still running? I had just done more for that one...
I feel like it's too late to jump on the superchallenge now, but I'll be doing tadoku with French, Swedish and German, and the 6wc probably with German, Dutch or Catalan

It sure is!
I must grab the mini-challenge posts before the old site disappears! Thanks for reminding me.

How does the Turkic challenge work?
I am not specifically interested in reading the collaborative writings (the one you wrote about Turkic languages) of yours. Could you post here the resources and its reviews related to both Turkish and Azeri?
Depending on resources availability and their prices, I may add a Turkic language next month.
