My challenge for myself is to finish Gaelic Without Groans by John Mackechnie, ISBN 0 05 002862 6 .
I am on Lesson 4 but may need some incentive to keep going. I want to acquire at least a basic knowledge of Scottish Gaelic and finishing this book would go a long way in that direction though it is somewhat elderly. I am hoping to finish it by mid-January.

Personally, I love the idea of the music challenge, and every time I listen to one of the 2 albums I discovered because of it, I think about what an interesting idea it was. The thing is, I was bad at sticking to it, as I was with the rest of the challenges I took on.

I would definitely like to give the challenge another go this year if it is even going to be a thing. The only suggestion I have is that perhaps participants shouldn't be limited to one language with this particular challenge. There is only so much music in one language that a person will like. Or maybe that's just me and my narrow music tastes talking :?

In my challenge you're pretty much never limited to just one language :) If you do the weekly 1 song per day or 2 songs per weekday, your 7 or 10 songs can all be in different languages

Ah ok, well I guess I remembered wrongly (and didn't think to check). Sorry about that. I guess I should re-read the info page and get cracking!

Yeah it's great. I particularly liked that I could keep track of my progress on that page too.

I took part in the original music challenge and didn't last very long. For me I think it was just a matter of priorities: discovering new music in my TLs is fun and interesting, but it just doesn't have anywhere near the same importance as my "core" learning activities like film/TV and conversation practice. So as soon as I got busy it fell by the wayside. And I realised that challenges in general aren't my thing. I'm quite bad even with music in general: my Facebook friends were all posting their top ten albums of 2015 yet I don't think I even listened to ten new albums in 2015. Despite my claiming to be a music lover and playing in a band. I don't really have any excuses, it's something I could easily manage with a few minutes of time and some background listening.

I don't think I'll sign up this time round, but the discussion did get me thinking that I should make a little more effort to discover new music and mention it in my log like I do for films and books. Plus if others are doing it too it'll help encourage me.
