Re: April Vocabulary Challenge
The main impact of the Vocabulary Challenge in my case is that I likely finished a Memrise course seven to ten days earlier than I would otherwise have done.

Re: April Vocabulary Challenge
I met my goal for the month I usually struggle to keep working on things consistently, but I didn't burn out or fall behind. I wasn't able to gather all the words from my reading as I had hoped, though. To save time I got most of my words from a list.

Re: April Vocabulary Challenge
I dropped out because of the lack of good Memrise decks at my level, but I was inspired to start making my own Memrise deck because of it. So, this challenge turned out to be pretty useful even though I dropped out.

Re: April Vocabulary Challenge
("Cross-posted" to my log.)
I learned 373 Hungarian words in April! My (arbitrary) goal was 300, woohoo!
It's been helpful to have some words to string together to throw at people while traveling here. It's true that many people in Budapest speak (just enough) English, but even in my short time here there have been a couple instances where they didn't, or a well-placed Hungarian word to support their weak* English has been very useful.
I wish I'd learned even more Hungarian before my trip, but with a full-time job plus other relationship & personal obligations, I'm pleased with what I was realistically able to accomplish.
*"Weak" isn't meant judgementally, just objectively. My "Me Jane, you Tarzan" Hungarian doesn't give me any leg to stand on as far as judging weak language skills.

Re: April Vocabulary Challenge
Learned an additional 65 words this week (not as many as I'd hoped but life gets in the way). That takes me to a total of 267 words for April. Given that I actually made measurable progress each week I'd say this was a successful challenge. If my goal was to not get distracted by other things to such an extent that I put down vocab specific studying all together, I totally met my goal.
