The idea of mission-based challenges is quite attractive. Benny Lewis talks about it and tarvos does it a lot. As for myself, since my learning is mostly input/native materials based, such specific missions would be my salvation for dealing with recurring issues. Examples:
A) getting the basics of Russian noun cases down
B) understanding and applying Georgian perfect and pluperfect
C) writing my first texts in Estonian
These are qualifiable and measurable but not simply quantity-based.
Short term challenges?
