Notice board

MAR, 2017: Upon request, I've included ISO codes for all past target language medalists in the first post.

OCT, 2016: I just thought I'd add a thread to our forum that gives credit to all the past winners and runners-up of the 6 Week Challenge, and I'll try to keep this updated. Congratulations to everyone who has worked hard to progress in their languages during each one of these challenges, and I hope the 6WC tradition continues to inspire and help language learners achieve their goals in the years to come!

Big congratulations to reineke111 for winning the 2016-11 6 Week Challenge for both target language hours and total hours!

A big shout out to JohiNYC and IanHiett as well for coming in second and third place for target language hours, and to serpent849 and JohiNYC for coming in second and third place for total language hours!

And of course, well done to all who participated and made progress during this challenge - great job everyone!!

Kudos to reineke111 for coming in first place for both target language hours and total language hours and scoring his first golden hat trick in both categories. Is there no stopping this indomitable fox? ;)

Blaurebell's stalwart efforts earned her both a silver medal for target language hours and a bronze for total language hours in what I believe may be her first 6WC! And BrunUgle flew off with the silver for total language hours to wing back to her nest of previous medals, and Teango (me) scraped a bronze by the the skin of his teeth (props to Hundetier for making the final furlong an uphill sprint)!

I also recall several people were flying high earlier in the challenge, but succumbed to illness or other difficulties and had to slow down or duck out altogether, and I'd like to give these guys a generic shout-out and round of applause (you know who you are). :)

Finally, well done to everyone who participated in this first 6WC of 2017. I hope you all made progress in your target language and other languages, and are one step closer your goals for this year.

Chapeaux and berets off to everyone who took part in the May 2017 6 Week Challenge! A respectful round of applause for reineke111 for winning both in terms of target and total language hours, and also for our juggernaut of runners-up (JohiNYC, smallwhite_hk, blaurebell) who powered ahead and put in some serious mileage.

This marks the 6WC's 10th anniversary since Sprachprofi got the ball rolling back in 2007, and the 6th year (and 25th run) since we started logging and adding up hours via the 6WC Twitterbot every few months. Taking just the stats on our leader board, I can see that a total of 1,445 people (577 unique members) have actively taken part and invested in excess of 50,933 hours into language learning (including 77 unique target languages, and many more all together). That's an impressive achievement in our all too often "here today, gone tomorrow" online world, and all the more so for maintaining stalwart supporters over all these years, as well as pushing through forum upheavals and rockier times to continue to attract new competitors from around the world.

Bien joué (well played) everyone, vive le 6WC!
