Interest in a German team has been expressed in the TAC thread. It seems that some would like an intermediate/advanced team. I'm not at that level, so I can't create and lead that team, so I've made this one all-levels appropriate. If someone else wants to start and lead an intermediate/advanced team, please do so, but meanwhile, anyone who's studying at any level of German in 2016 is welcome here.

I'm new to the forum and have only a very general idea of how the TAC team thing is supposed to happen, so if someone wants to step up to be co-leader, I would be happy with that. Also, if someone wants to volunteer to be an advisor, that would be great, too.

I've posted a list in the first post for people who've expressed an interest in a German team. If you don't want to be a part of this team, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll put you on the list for team members.

Right. So, what next?

Standard first step is to choose the name for the team.
Here's the poll in Google Forms, no verification or anything is required, just post your suggestions - and double them here so others could see what is it that you're offering.
You can vote three times, first vote counts for 1.5 points, second for 1, third for 0.5, ALWAYS mention your username, otherwise the vote won't count.
Some of the last year's suggestions were:
Gegenwart
Der Hammer
Rapunzel
Leidenshaft

P.S. I use Google Forms just because it's a super-easy and comfortable way to work with such things :)

I'm here and happy to be part of the team even though I'm in the the German/Spanish team too. I'm a little busy until later next week, but then I'll post some nice links and stuff.

I'm a beginner in German, but since I already know Norwegian I have a big head start which means I can understand quite a bit more than I can confidently express. I can guess at a lot of words, but my grammar is still a little shaky.

Rapunzel also means corn salad? I thought it was just a name, but nope, had to look it up in case I was missing something. Corn salad. That's just... Weird. And oddly entertaining.

I don't really have any suggestions for team names. I kind of suck at that. I'm curious to hear what suggestions other people have.

Challenge

I think it would be great if, as a first challenge, we could introduce ourselves, talk about where we are with German, what our goals are, and explain a bit about what we want to get out of the group. Write as much as you can in German and write the rest in English if need be.

For those of us who don't understand enough of the German, we can use translation services like Google translate and ask questions if there's anything we don't understand, right?

I needed help from Google translate for that. I plan to do some writing in German this year, along with reading. I've got some children's books that I can mostly understand, which is cool. I'm looking forward to seeing how supportive this group can be. :)

My take on the challenge:

P.S. Ohne Spellchecker habe ich nur 3 Fehler gemacht ^^

My attempt to complete the challenge (please, point out my numerous mistakes, it's been long time since I last studied German)

Liebe Freunde,
Mein Deutsch is night so gut, ich weiß, entschuldigung.
