Re: Reading short stories challenge 2016
I've added Sommarboken by Tove Jansson for Swedish, but I just want to make sure it counts. It's a collection of stories about one family and the way they spend their summers. It would be a novel, but the stories aren't connected by anything other than the chracters and the setting - there is no particular plot or chronology. Is this okay? If not, I'll remove it.

I've been browsing my Swedish and Italian copies and I'm kinda undecided I'd say if you can read the stories in any order, they count. And Tove Jansson definitely deserves some love
Some things will always be an individual choice. I've decided not to count this sort of books, but I'm fine with you counting them

I removed it, as it didn't sit quite right with me. Well, now I'll have to buy a Swedish copy of Let the Old Dreams die instead
(I'll still be reading Sommarboken, because Tove Jansson)

Progress Report
French :
Russian :
Hawaiian :
German :
I'm currently halfway through a book that contains hundreds of dialogues with accompanying study notes, and maybe around 60 short stories in total (which get longer and more demanding as the book progresses). However, as I said I'd play it by ear with regards to the size of a "short story", I won't count my goal of 5 short stories for Hawaiian by the end of the year as already done and dusted, but rather count each half of the book of collected stories (approx. 100 pages) as a single short story in itself for the purposes of this challenge. This seems much fairer, or at least challenging, and I've got plenty of other Hawaiian books lined up for the rest of the year to keep me busy.

Re: Reading short stories challenge 2016
My first short story for the year is in the bag:
1. Wampiry w Polskiej rzeczywistości. Przepadek Wiktora K by Julita Strzebecka
It was really tough read and I am sure that I did not understand it well. I decided to keep going without re-reads. I have 100's of horror stories to read! Let's my passive vocabulary works itself In.
I will start today,
2. Baal by Adrian Mucha Paweł Warowny

Re: Reading short stories challenge 2016
So. I just finished my fifth. Does that mean I win a prize or something?
But good luck to everyone working on it. I honestly think short stories are better than novels in some ways, especially because it's easier to find breaks in them.

Haha. Only one story per week can count, though I'll be happy if this challenge encourages you to read more than one on some weeks

Re: Reading short stories challenge 2016
Are we supposed to report here the read stories? It would be nice to keep a list for the 2016 challenge. I just finished my 2nd last night. Pa pa.

Yep, report here (you don't have to mention the title or author if you don't want)
TBH I'm not exactly interested in keeping a masterlist of what everyone has read, but I can set up a justpaste.it or wikia page if needed.
