Language: English
Challenge: Full
Current level: B2
Comments, links: Goals: Read more classics and stop using subtitles as crutches

I will try to actually track the "movie" component throughout the challenge this time. My reading goal will be to read at least one book each by Alia Mamdouh, Naguib Mahfouz, and Emily Nasrallah.

Comments, links:
"Movie" component will be the French audiobooks I purchased... in 2019.

Language: Danish
Challenge: (full, half, double) Double
Current level: B2 (perhaps) C1 in reading
Comments, links: The film section will be mostly using TV series and podcasts. I've got so many unread books, that finding something to read won't be a problem

Language: German
Challenge: (full, half, double) Full
Current level: C2
Comments, links: I've decided to sign up for German as well this time, as it's been feeling a bit neglected

Language: Latin
Challenge: Half
Current level: Late beginner???
Comments, links: Since the total number of real films in Latin seems to be three (one I'd never want to watch, one mostly silent, and one amateur), I'll be mostly relying on audiobooks. In my optimistic moments, hoping to upgrade to a full challenge... Looking forward to my first challenge of any kind on this site, though.

I’m znmnky on twitter. Feel free to follow, I follow back.

I’m focused on German because it’s the weakest of my four core. And I want to read for fun. Even if at B2 I still struggle. I think this challenge is a good way to move my German to the next level. I’m doing a half because a full is just too much (for me); I’ll find it stressing and just drop.
Not 100% sure I’ll track with twitter but I’ll track somehow.

Language: French
Challenge: Full
Current level: B1-ish
Comments, links: THIS time I WILL complete the reading challenge! Or just enjoy the process of building up my reading fluency. Either way it's all good. I have plenty of books on kindle, and most of my films will probably be audiobooks and podcasts.

Language: Hindi
Challenge: half
Current level: A2/B1 (very rusty)
Comments, links: I haven't even looked at Hindi texts for around a year, so it will be tough at first. I'm planning to warm up with children's books because I have loads of them, and then possibly work my way into reading a Ruskin Bond translated into Hindi. FYI Ruskin Bond is an Indian who writes in English, but many of his books have been translated into Hindi. Besides actual Hindi films, I'll use some Ruskin Bond audiobooks as well.

Language: German
Challenge: half
Current level: perpetual A2
Comments, links: I'll get back to easy readers by Brian Smith and by André Klein. I have audio for both, which will be used for the film portion. I may rewatch Babylon Berlin at some point.

Language: French
Challenge: full
Current level: vaguely low intermediate?? With quite strong reading but weak listening/speaking.
Comments, links: I've lost track of how many times I've signed up for this challenge but this time I'm gonna finish for realsies! I have an abundance of materials, including Netflix, loads of French dubs on DVD, and a public library full of French books/movies. Log here.

Language: Italian
Challenge: half
Current level: almost complete beginner, plus the benefit of my French to help with reading.
Comments, links: I started Italian two years ago, and made a tiny start on the last Super Challenge, but quickly burned out and haven't touched it since. I still want to prioritize French, so this challenge will be very low pressure.

Current level: Upper-Intermediate reading (passive skills only in both reading/listening).
Comments, links: I am mainly interested in the reading challenge and may use audiobooks to cover the film portion this time around. Challenge has been helpful in the past!

Language: Latin
Challenge: full
Current level: B2/C1?
Comments, links: I'm feeling the B2/C1 plateau. My students are far from being able to challenge me, and it's easy to just do enough to prep for classes and neglect my own development. I hope that increasing input, especially audio, will be helpful. At the very least it should be fun. The Super Challenge requires 6.25 days' worth of "films"; I certainly won't be watching films in Latin (if only I could!), but I do have 3 days or so of Latin audiobooks on my computer, and there are recorded lectures and such on YouTube. As for reading, I expect a lot of my material to be early modern Latin rather than classical or medieval works.

Language: Ancient Greek
Challenge: full
Current level: B2/C1?
Comments, links: Same as for Latin, mutatis mutandis. There's far less audio material (of good quality) for ancient Greek than there is for Latin, but I do have seven hours on my computer. I'll probably use the Greek New Testament to raise the daily page average.
