Language: Czech
Challenge: half
Current level: B1?
Comments, links: Oops, starting late but still glad to start. I'm more interested in the listening (watching) than the reading but I'm curious to see how it goes.

I've really missed the language learning community so much, for the past few years I've been immersed in learning some different types of languages, programming languages hehe :)
It's good to be back!

Language: Italian
Challenge: half
Current level: I used to be a B2, I might have to catch up a little bit though
Comments, links: I've done the first and second edition of the Super Challenge and they really helped me a lot.

Language: Mandarin Chinese
Challenge: half
Current level: Same thing, I used to be a B2, I might have to catch up a little bit though
Comments, links: The reading part is going to be very challenging but I'll try.

Language: English
Challenge: half
Current level: C1-C2 level
Comments, links: I regularly consume media in English, so it won't be as challenging. But I want to try to diversify my media consumption a bit more.

Check in

How's everyone doing so far?

For my part, I quit twitter & it got too hard tracking "listening" using a spreadsheet, so I'm partially out of the challenge. I'd still like to finish a reading half-challenge for Italian, Spanish, and French. It's much easier to keep track of books! Here are my top five this year, for each language.

Italian (12/50) - I find I like Italian non-fiction better than fiction, with only a few exceptions. I don't have a top-five for this year.

Boccaccio, Decameron (Day 7). 1353 (Scandalous tales from the Renaissance! I only read a few stories at a time; one day I'll finish)
Massimo Montanari, Breve storia degli spaghetti al pomodoro. 2019 (A wonderful history of spaghetti with red sauce)
Paulo Cognetti, Le otto montagne. 2016 (Two friends growing up, and growing apart, in a mountain village)
Indro Montanelli, Roberto Gervaso. L'Italia dei secoli bui. 1967 (A popular history of Italy from fall of the Roman empire to the year 1000)

Spanish (43/50) - There were a lot of Spanish books I never finished, and I find I keep coming back to my favorite authors.

Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Revolución. 2022 (A young Spanish engineer meets Pancho Villa and gets swept up in the Mexican Revolution)
Arturo Pérez-Reverte, El italiano. 2021 (A romance and adventure story set in Gibraltar in WWII)
Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Sidi. 2019 (Another adventure story, this time taking place during El Cid's exile from the Christian kingdoms)
Santiago Posteguillo, Yo Soy Roma. 2022 (First of a planned six-part series on Julius Caesar)
Juan Rolfo, El llano en llamas / Pedro Páramo. 1955 (A difficult read, but worthwhile. García Márquez lists him as a major inspiration)

French (16/50) - I focused on Moroccan and other African writers earlier this year.

Gaël Faye, Petit pays. 2016 (A heart-breaking account of the genocide in Rwanda)
Amin Maalouf, Léon l'Africain. 1986 (Set during the Renaissance-era in the Muslim world)
Giulano da Empoli, Le mage du Kremlin. 2022 (In progress; but so far it's blowing my mind)
Chateaubriand, Mémoires d'outre-tombe. 1850 (read selections only, not the whole thing!)
Leïla Slimani, Le pays des autres. 2021 (A young French woman marries a Moroccan soldier & moves with him to his family farm)

Well I have again "over achieved" in watch films and have about 205 in Korean at the moment and appears not to have helped even one little bit. Ah well.

So ... if we have a Squid Games challenge you'd win it, ya?

I also just realized I posted in the Registration and not the Discussion thread. I'll head over there & ask again for updates. I miss the days when the Super Challenge was an active forum during the entire challenge!

That is a twitter issue. You'll have to take it up with twitter support.

However, there is a problem they are not appearing even though I can post my tweets on Twitter. I think this problem used to exist before I think I will wait for tomorrow before I post anything.

Twitter is going to stop allowing unpaid bots, so it might be that it no longer works. I'm trying to get an email based system working.
