Because so many of you kind people have suggested that I need to work on more output this year, I'm going to give this Output Challenge a shot.
LANGUAGE: French
CHALLENGE: Audio only
CURRENT LANGUAGE LEVEL: A0 - A1
WILLING TO CORRECT LANGUAGE: Yes
COMMENTS: I'm nervous and tongue-tied. I'm sure that my first couple (of hundred!) recordings will have me repeating words or sentences over until I get them right. At first, I may post each recording every day, but later I will just post a link to a week's worth at one time. I look forward to any help you can give me. Bon courage mes amis !

Re: Output Challenge 2016 Registration Thread
I'm another one who's done NaNoWriMo more than a few times. I've won a bunch, not won a bunch more. So, yeah, 50k words in a foreign for me language in a year? Why not? And I really need to do this - I'm so hesitant to step outside of my comfort zone, which includes writing in a foreign for me language, so it's best I just do this and get over it already.
LANGUAGE: German
CHALLENGE: Writing only
CURRENT LANGUAGE LEVEL: Working on completing A1.
WILLING TO CORRECT LANGUAGE: Yes for English.

Re: Output Challenge 2016 Registration Thread
I'm in -- and one of what seems like a large number of us doing German
LANGUAGE: German
CHALLENGE: Writing only
CURRENT LANGUAGE LEVEL: B2 (ish)
WILLING TO CORRECT LANGUAGE: Yes - English
COMMENTS: Since I'm living in Germany, I can probably make up a lot of the word count from day-to-day emails and the like. But I'd also like to spend some time writing more involved things, maybe some essays or fiction. And even with the mundane stuff, it'll be useful to think of it as language practice rather than as a chore.

Re: Output Challenge 2016 Registration Thread
I have been thinking about which language to do this challenge in for a while now, and have decided not to take my easy option of German and do French instead.
Language: French
Full challenge
Level: Not got the faintest clue
Willing to correct: Yes, English. And I could provide feedback for German too.
Comments: I haven't used French regularly for years. I write it a lot with French friends and Francophiles but I haven't spoken it since I left uni 4 years ago. My writing will probably be quite good, but when I open my mouth, I'll start by getting tongue-tied over the simplest of things. However that's what this challenge is here for. Oh, and I'll have to find a way to actually record my voice!

To record my voice I use Audacity. It's a fee audio recorder and editor. You can use the built in microphone on a laptop, but it is a better idea to buy a headset microphone. That will give you better audio quality.
Also, please feel free to join our French group: Les Voyageurs.

Re: Output Challenge 2016 Registration Thread
Hope this is the right place to put this question.... If I were to work on a song over a length of time, would each recording count or just the one(s) that I'm happy with?
Thanks......
Thanks......

Each recording of you speaking counts, although if you are doing an instrumental sound track, you get no mileage!

Re: Output Challenge 2016 Registration Thread
LANGUAGE: Mandarin
CHALLENGE: Audio only
CURRENT LANGUAGE LEVEL: Unknown, generally somewhere in intermediate
WILLING TO CORRECT LANGUAGE: No....sorry, not enough time
COMMENTS: Will depend heavily on shadowing, reading aloud and singing (if my voice doesn't give out). Recording 8-9 minutes a day is going to be a huge challenge so I don't expect to achieve the goal of 50 hours. Also I am relatively unconcerned about my speaking accent. With all the different regional Chinese accents and me being ethnic Chinese, I find that native speakers when they first meet me automatically generally assume that I'm a native speaker until I make a mistake.

Re: Output Challenge 2016 Registration Thread
LANGUAGE: Italian
CHALLENGE: Writing only
CURRENT LANGUAGE LEVEL: B2
WILLING TO CORRECT LANGUAGE: Yes, in English
COMMENTS: Writing is my weakest skill in Italian. By the end of the year I would like to be able to write stream of consciousness in Italian and have it make sense, of course. Will only count Scriptorium if I really need to.
------------------------------------------
LANGUAGE: Croatian
CHALLENGE: Audio only
CURRENT LANGUAGE LEVEL: B1
COMMENTS: I will probably get a lot of writing in Croatian too, including a lot of Spriptorium, but I couldn't do the full challenge in two languages. Which is probably a good thing for my mental health.

LANGUAGE: Mandarin Chinese
CHALLENGE: Audio only
CURRENT LANGUAGE LEVEL: A1/A2
WILLING TO CORRECT LANGUAGE: Yes, English.
COMMENTS: I am really attracted by the AJATT method of self immersion and I think having this audio output challenge will be a lovely addition. Will begin shadowing Volume 2 of Assimil Chinese this year, so it will be fun after to record audios with the amazing prompts given in the other thread, and interleaving the different shadowed lessons together to arrive at spontaneous speech
