The 6 Week Challenge is a challenge to upgrade your language skills in one language from beginner to something more worthwhile, and to see if you can find more time to study languages when competing with other participants in a global highscore. 6 Week Challenges start on February 1st, May 1st, August 1st and November 1st every year, so there is a rough 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off pattern. Note that you can only do the 6 Week Challenge with a language that you're a beginner at or lower-intermediate at most. This allows for a more just comparison between participants.

Swedish, again.
I won't manage to do much, but I can't just miss a 6WC anymore.

German for me, but it's not really my main language, so I probably won't have a very high score.

Good luck, everybody!

Phew!! I came 22nd in target language (oops) and 3rd overall (my best result this year). My Italian and German have improved so much in so little time, which wouldn't have been possible without the 6WC to motivate me, because I'm not interested enough in these two languages.

Italian

Since the Feb-6WC, I copied and SRS'd 1627 new words, which isn't that many by my standards but is enough for me to feel the effects, and it made me read (part of) 6 different novels and that's a good thing.

German

Since the Feb-6WC, I copied and SRS'd 3240 new words. I started reading fiction in July, and copied 2366 words from novels since, so my fiction-reading-ability increased infinite-fold... because it increased from 0  There are now native novels that I actually find easy. This has been particularly important to me because back during the Aug-6WC I was still greatly frustrated by the endless unknown words, and estimated that I would need 20,000 more words to read novels properly, (imagine copying, looking up and SRSing 20,000 words one by one!), yet during the Nov-6WC I'm already reading some books comfortably. With that frustration in August, were it not for the motivation provided by 6WCs, I would've very likely just given up.

Couldn't be happier :P

I'm very happy with my Danish stats, even if I didn't reach the 20-hour mark. I've now checked and my all-time high for Danish was 20h 10min in my very first 6WC (February 2012) and 5 min less in the August of the same year. Both times I LR'ed Harry Potter. My all-time low was 2h 53 min in August 2014.
The biggest breakthrough was that I dared to switch Windows to Danish. I was honestly terrified and I wouldn't have done it if I had no way to switch back within an hour or less (I still haven't). Now I will try the Swedish interface too ;)
I didn't finish either of the books I wanted to read, but I'm no longer intimidated by reading in Danish.

I wasn't really planning to do so much German. I chose it as a target language because it's my only beginner language right now. In the end though, I did a lot more German than intended. I expected to do mostly Spanish, but my Spanish and German times came out even. Exactly even. I did 80 hours and 6 minutes of each. And I ended in fourth place both on target language and overall. So, that's not so bad.

Studying that much has caused me to make some good progress in German I feel, but my Spanish is advanced enough that 80 hours barely made a difference, or so it seems. Maybe I just don't remember how bad I was. And I think my Esperanto has gotten worse these past couple of weeks. I've been almost ignoring it lately.

Today, I'm trying to take the day off from languages, but it's hard. Still, I have a whole bunch of things that I've been neglecting and I need to do. Once they're done, I can relax with some FSI or something.
