Comments, links: I considered signing up for the romance family so I could also count Catalan and eventually French, but I have a feeling I would get lazy and only focus on Spanish.

I meant to do this sooner but I'm changing things up. Spanish is still a double challenge, and Italian is still a full challenge. Those are my two main focuses for the Super Challenge. I'm going to make the most effort to complete these two goals. I'm using my own spreadsheet to keep track of everything. What I really want to do is shove Mandarin, Japanese and Malay into a full challenge together but they're not from the same language family.

Language: Japanese
Challenge: Half
Current level: A1

Language: Mandarin Chinese
Challenge: Half
Current level: A1

Language: Malay
Challenge: Half
Current level: A1/A2

Comments, links: I've been trying to learn Spanish for several months now, but I lack consistency. Hope this challenge will make me more disciplined, so that I'll reach B1 by the end of it.

Hey, fell off the wagon so never signed up. Coronvirus and my job situation really got me uninspired. Job situation has cleared up and well.. im uh.. used to covid by now so gunna start focusing on this again. Did this last time with Spanish and got around 80 films and ~10 books... so together thats kind of a half challenge.

Not going to have any hefty goals rn, just want to get back into the flow. Will sign up for more in the future if I knock these out.

Language: German
Challenge: Half
Current level: A1
Comments, links: This is my current focus. Have some shows and books lined up.

Language: Spanish
Challenge: Half
Current level: Oh lord. Some weird place in the gap between B1 and B2. At least B1.
Comments, links: Honestly rn only planning on doing some films here and there for some listening maintenance. Dont have any books lined up.

Language: Spanish
Challenge: Full
Current level: A weak A2 I think
Comments, links: Watching films and series on Netflix will be the easy part. So far "La Niña" has been great. I think the reading is going to be a true challenge because I am still so slow. I try to keep tabs on how many pages I read each day, so my hope is to see that number slowly creep up over the next year and a half. I'm really excited to see how much I improve. Good luck everyone!

Language: French
Challenge: full
Current level: beginner
Comments: My mother tongue is Spanish and I live only an hour away from the French region of Aquitaine, so I hope this will help me to reach an intermediate level. Here we go!!

Language: English
Challenge: full
Current level: intermediate
Comments, links: It's been a long time since I reached an intermediate level in English, but I haven't pushed myself out of my comfort zone ever since. I hope this way I'll be able to break the plateau.

Late to the party but I only just found this forum. So, here we go.

Language: German
Challenge: Full
Current level: A1
Comments, links: I intend to move to Germany as soon as it's feasible to do so. I really need to get to B1/B2 level and I hope this challenge will get me there. I can understand written German to some extent but I have a hard time with spoken German.

Language: Spanish
Challenge: Half
Current level: False beginner/A1
Comments, links: I took several years of Spanish in school but that didn't really stick. I can understand enough to read short newspaper articles but I have issues with producing basic things that I should have learned in school. I'd like to get a master's degree from a school where the content is taught partially in Spanish so I'm hoping to at least get B1 level.

Language: Croatian
Challenge: Half
Current level: Beginner
Comments, links: I'm currently living in Croatia and I would like to not look completely stupid when I go shopping, thank you. B1 would be great but I'll be happy if I can get to A2. Croatian is not an easy language!

I'll be tracking my progress for all 3 languages in my log here: https://forum.language-learners.org/vie ... 15&t=15851

Better late than never!

Language: Spanish
Challenge: Full
Current level: Zero when the challenge started, A2-ish now
Comments, links: I'll be back-counting what I watched / read since the challenge started. I started Spanish in July and began reading novels (painfully slowly) in October. I hope to improve my reading speed, listening comprehension, and really... everything.

Comments: This will include all the non-Italian romance languages: Sicilian, Piedmontese, French, Portuguese, etc

I decided to switch Italian to a full rather than double so I have more time to devote to reading in the other languages.

Language: Romance family (French and Spanish with a smattering of Italian and Romanian)
Challenge: Full
Current level: Total beginner (Romanian) to B2 (French)
Comments, links: I've not used my language skills for a few years, and they've completely atrophied. I've decided that this year I'm going to gently re-start consuming content in them. Hopefully this will encourage me to watch more TV and read more books!

Language: Mandarin
Challenge: Full
Current level: Wobbly A1 (passed the HSK 2 test in December)
Comments, links: I'm not sure how reading is going to work out, but it sounds like the sort of challenge that's made for 2021.
