Language: Spanish
Challenge: full
Current level: probably B2
Comments, links: I think this could be the year I finally complete the reading portion. The movie portion was always easy.

Language: German
Challenge: full
Current level: B1?
Comments, links: I'm planning on reading a lot of easy books and going for quantity over quality this time. There will be time enough for quality when my level is a bit higher.

Language: North-Germanic Family
Challenge: full
Current level: C1/C2 in Norwegian
Comments, links: This usually ends up being mostly Norwegian because that's what I can usually find, but I hope to read at least a little in Danish and Swedish. I've never even come close to finishing the movie portion.

I'll probably add in a few more languages as I go, but I'm starting with these.

Language: French
Challenge: double
Current level: not sure, probably B2 or C1
Comments, links: I'd love to be a solid C1 and on the way towards C2

Granted the future right now is very uncertain, so I'm just going to go all-in. May drop or downscale one later down the line.

Language: Romance family
Challenge: double
Current level: French C1; Spanish high B2; Italian high A2; anything else A1
Comments, links: Mainly French and Spanish, but I am trying to gradually bring up other Romance languages, especially Portuguese, to B level in listening and reading.

Language: Celtic family
Challenge: double
Current level: Scottish Gaelic C1; Irish high B2; Breton wobbly B2; Welsh wobbly B1
Comments, links: Pushing to get Irish to close to C1 as possible without the speaking practice I have with Scottish Gaelic while also maintaining my Scottish Gaelic; my Breton and Welsh both need a boost.

Language: Germanic family
Challenge: full
Current level: German B2, Swedish wobbly B1
Comments, links: Pushing to get my German back up to my college days level; my Swedish always needs a boost, because it's always the language to first slide off my plate when my plate gets too full (which is always).

Language: Russian
Challenge: half
Current level: hovering around A2
Comments, links: Given I'm only been working on Russian since last Fall, this feels very ambitious and it probably is since Russian is just so, well, Russian. I think my biggest weakest right now for both reading and listening is my lack of recallable vocabulary- a very familiar place to be at with a language for me, so I'm not too worried about how to approach this challenge with Russian.

Language: Austronesian family
Challenge: half
Current level: Indonesian high B1, Tagalog and Hawaiian A1
Comments, links: Mainly for Indonesian, although at the moment I'm very short on reading materials and may end up reading the same few books over and over, but I hope to make some significant progress with Tagalog by the end of 2021. Materials for Hawaiian will be hard for me to get, but adding it to the challenge just in case opportunity knocks.

Been thinking about signing up the past few days and I can't find a reason not to...

Language: Spanish
Challenge: Full
Current level: Intermediate (B2 reading?)
Comments, links: I have a bunch of shows I think I'd like saved on Netflix, but I'm horrible at watching TV. The reading part of this, however, I'm pretty confident on as I read a lot. Will be reading mainly fiction, but also have some nonfiction to sprinkle throughout, and who knows what I'll buy in the meantime.

Language: French
Challenge: Half
Current level: Intermediate (B1 reading?)
Comments, links: Definitely slower at reading than with Spanish, and I have less books/tv shows on tap. Not feeling confident about the TV portion, but I believe you can count podcasts? I half-listen to some at work so I'll only count ones I focus on, and aren't background noise that I occasionally tune into. Whenever I finish FSI Spanish (on lesson 40/55) I'll be doing FSI French Phonology and FSI French Basic, so that'll be more exposure as well (not counted for the challenge, but helpful nonetheless).

Since this challenge started May 1st and I have a French book started after that, can I count that despite not being signed up? I know I watched some Spanish TV after May 1st, but I don't care to go back and figure out how much I did (don't think it was much), but I know for sure per Goodreads I started this French book after the start date.

I won't be using twitter but I recall seeing a spreadsheet someone posted for tracking progress (and I already track books I read as it is), so I'm off to go find that.

I want to get a C1 certificate (CAE, probably) until half 2021, so I need much more exposure to English native content. God helps us all :D
