Quick update for you all - for some reason the forum has been telling me for the past couple of months that my password is wrong, and wouldn't let me in. I tried re-setting it, and it wouldn't go through. I tried creating a new account so I could post and let you know what was going on, and it let me in but when I typed out a post it told me that my login had timed out, and then it told me that the password on that account was wrong. I tried emailing the forum and never got a response.

But for whatever reason, it let me back in just now on my second attempt of the day.

I have been keeping track of scores on my own computer, so I am going to add this month's scores and then hopefully I will still be able to get in and update the scoring on the first page. I've been doing a little bit better at studying the past month and a half, but still not as well as I did in the beginning. Glad to see so many are still going strong!

Not only still here, but sticking faithfully to the weekly Έλλ-Ísl switcheroo. Not messing with my brain in any way at all, oh no.

Also, my brain power is not up to mathing how many days I've missed vs how many I've gotten since my last update, so I'm just going to give my current score this time; hope you all don't mind. If anybody wants the specific numbers, you're welcome to request my spreadsheet!

Scores are updated on the first page, please review yours and make sure I didn't make any errors! Thanks!

Also, I'm so proud of everyone who is still participating (even if you have a less than perfect score!)

I get more time to study today because of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. We have a public holiday. If everything goes well, I can hit 500 hours for Russian today after putting in another 75 minutes in evening which seems doable. The current 2020 study time for Russian is 498 hours 45 minutes and for French is 114 hours 55 minutes.

After a strange incident I'm gravitating towards French again. About a week ago I was struggling to understand the concept of negation in mathematical logic. For a proposition P, ~P means that "it's not the case that P." The it's not the case bit in Rosen's Discrete Mathematics was a nightmare. How was it different from not P? Also incomprehensible to me was the idea that the negation of "All swans are white." is not "All swans are not white."

So, among other things, I looked up some help on Qwant and found Chapitre 1 : s’exprimer en mathématiques. Voilà! The definition made sense. All it takes to negate "All swans are white." is one non-white swan; the rest can retain their whiteness.

It helps to have as many instructors as you can when you are trying to teach yourself mathematics.

As for Russian, I scored B2 on a passive vocabulary and grammar test on the Pushkin Institute website. I got 111 answers correct out of 166 or 167. Although encouraging, the score is an overestimate in my opinion. My active skills are nowhere near B2.
