Interesting topic - and good to be able to understand most of Arthaey's Spanish response!

I looked at your Dutch post on a lark, and was shocked that my very basic German knowledge (plus knowing the topic) was enough to get the gist of what you wrote! It sounds like we're in agreement on the topic. :)

It's things like this that made me wish Lang-8 and similar communities had a better Irish language community. There's just not really a lot of people there. And, what's worse, a lot of them are learners and use the standard, whereas I prefer to write dialectally. And, on top of that, it took me almost 2 years to get my only entry corrected! It's kinda frustrating learning a language with few native speakers.

When are old things better than new things?

I wrote 136 words, with no recording... I really hate recording myself in the first place, so if my roommates are around when it's time to do it, I don't. :(

"When are old things better than new things?"
Just 174 words today. I really need to start writing more because I need to write 300 words (and record 36 minutes of audio :o) per day to complete the challenge by the end of the year (and that's without mentioning how far behind I have fallen) but I didn't want to waffle on for hours about my childhood video game habits.

About the recording, I have a similar problem. Although I know my family wouldn't mind me going upstairs and doing a recording each day, I just feel a bit awkward sometimes. Also, I much prefer just babbling on to my microphone about whatever springs to mind. Talking about a set topic with the intention of actually uploading it and letting someone listen to it, scares the hell out of me. I don't doubt that it would be extremely beneficial for me and my Spanish to do this exercise, though... I just need to suck it up and do it.
