I'm very interested in hearing your experiences with Tadoku. I've been interested in it for a while but I find the website incredibly vague (and the main website doesn't seem to be updated regularly either).
For those who don't know, the aim of the site? app? is to challenge yourself to do as much extensive reading (tadoku, 多読 in Japanese) as possible in a target language. You send information on the amount of reading you did (i.e. book pages, games, subs, internet websites) to Tadoku (through Twitter? An app? This is what I'm particularly unclear about). There are rankings and everything.
So, what are your experiences? How exactly does it work, and is it easy to use? Do you find it useful?

Re: Experience with Tadoku?
It's easy to use — you just report your reading on the site or via Twitter (and then it shows up on the site).
If you find it motivating to track your reading, or to know that others are doing the same challenge, then yes, Tadoku can be useful.
I try it from time to time, but I always end up annoyed that I have to count my reading twice: once on my time-tracking app (to track my language-related stuff) and again to tell Tadoku about it. If there were some way to have Tadoku automatically read the data from my time-tracking app, I'd probably stick with it.

Re: Experience with Tadoku?
Check this thread if the old htlal works for you (might require refreshing).
I absolutely love Tadoku, participated in every round since 2012 The biggest challenge is always choosing your languages No but seriously, they should either be at a comparable level, or if there's a clear favourite you should be okay with it. (For example, in 2013 I did what I described as a somewhat masochistic Tadoku in German, Dutch and Swedish, where German was clearly my strongest language and the others were just for fun, I only read a handful of pages in them)
Ideally you also need a variety of materials etc

@Serpent: do you have suggestions for the double-counting annoyance I talked about? I want to like Tadoku... Or maybe you don't otherwise track your studying time, and so you didn't have my "problem"?

Re: Experience with Tadoku?
Yep, I don't track my time/pages permanently. "Only" for the 6wc, tadoku and the super challenge.
I simply avoid Russian and to some extent English. And I use tree.mindbloom.com which is essentially a life gamification site like habit rpg but less geeky
Given how busy lordsilent is, I think you have a better chance of making your time app read your tadoku data than vice versa. If there are multiple challenges on I often report for a few in the same tweet

Re: Experience with Tadoku?
I read through the topic on old HTLAL and it's become a bit more clear for me.
So the next round is October, right? I think I'll participate then, although I'll mostly participate with Japanese so I doubt I'll make it high in the ranking (although I'd stand a chance if I added German..)

Re: Experience with Tadoku?
Who's participating in Tadoku this round? Is there a place where people can discuss?

Re: Experience with Tadoku?
I would, but Tadoku only allows three langauges, which sucks since I focus on four at the moment...
I already track my reading (and listening), so Tadoku would probably not make me read more than I already do anyway.

Re: Experience with Tadoku?
So far in one week I surpassed my previous Tadoku records I'm feeling pretty good about my reading consistency this round. I'm just reading Japanese.
