(Admins, if this is not the right place for this, let me know.)
Esperanto Sumoo is a reading challenge. Six times a year, participants commit to reading a certain number of pages per day during the Sumoo. Five of the six Sumooj are 15 days long, while the summer Sumoo (July...Japan is in the northern hemisphere, after all. No offense, southerners) is only 8 days long.
I've participated for a few years now and I can 100% attest that it has helped my Esperanto reading proficiency. I started way back when committing to 2 or 3 pages a day and now, depending upon the book, am up to 8-10 pages a day. Note, the intent is not to finish the book in the period of the Sumoo; the point is simply to read every day.
The site includes links to free online books, so just because you don't own any Esperanto books is not an excuse to not take part! Oh, and the more Sumooj you participate in, the higher your rank rises!
The next Sumoo starts 8 September and goes through 22 September. Will you join me in this challenge? To join, follow the instructions on the Rules page.

Re: Esperanto Sumoo
So devilyoudont and I are registered. Anyone else? @Radioclare? @Meddysong?
And I've solved my dilemna. I just started back to Italian and I didn't want any interference, so was wracking my brain trying to figure out what to do. Well, I've got that sorted:

I've registered too. Going to read (continue reading that is) Friedebert Tuglas - Kvin novelojn, which is the good-night-book I'm reading in bed before sleeping.

Re: Esperanto Sumoo
Good. I went to bed late, past midnight, and read a few pages before falling asleep. Only problem is, that I'm reading an almost "unputdownable" dutch children's book, so to switch to a much less exciting book took a lot of self-command. Now there are only 50 pages left of the dutch book, so tonight forcing myself to read Esperanto will be easier.

Re: Esperanto Sumoo
Sorry I haven't been updating these, but I've been doing the Sumooj every other month since. I should check. I've been doing these consistently for a number of years now.
The next one, the 71st, starts tomorrow! What are you reading?

Sorry, off-topic, but I would be interested in the title of this Dutch book!
