Comments: Some new words: to complain, to promise, especially, lost. Also forced to practise some longer sentence structures.

আমাদের খারাপ ছুটির কারণে আমি অভিযোগ করতে লিখছি। আপনার কম্পানি সবকিছু সাথে সাহায্য করতে প্রতিজ্ঞা করেছিল। এই জরুরী ছিল কারণ আমার ভুড়ো বাবা-মা ভ্রমণ করেছিলেন। কিন্তু আপনার ট্যাক্সি এক ঘন্টা দেরি ছিল। আপনার চালক তাঁর ব্যাগগুলো সঙ্গে সাহায্য করে নি।
বিমানবন্দরে তাঁদের দীর্ঘক্ষণ অপেক্ষা করতে হয়েছিল। বিমানতে, তাদের আসন একসঙ্গে ছিল না। আটটায় ঘন্টা জন্য তাঁদের খারাপ লাগে। বিমান ত্যাগ করে, তাঁদের তাঁদের ব্যাগগুলো হারিয়ে গেছে বলা হয়। যখন তাঁরা বিমানবন্দরে চলে ছাড়েন, তখন আপনার ট্যাক্সি ছেড়েছে। তাঁদের নিজে দামী ট্যাক্সি নিতে হবে। পাঁচ দেন পর টাঁদের ব্যাগগুলো পৌছিয়েছিল। পাঁচ দিন! তাঁরা মাত্র দুই দিন বাড়িতে ফিরে আসেন!
এই ছুটের দিন খুব খারাপ ছিলো। আমাদের বাবা-মা আপনাকে তাঁদের টাকা ফিরতে চান।

(Rough translation: I am writing to complain about our bad holiday. Your company promised to help with everything. This was important because my elderly parents were travelling. However, your taxi was late by an hour. Your driver did not help with the bags. At the airport they had to wait for a long time. In the plane, their seats were not together! They had a bad eight hours. Having left the plane, they find that their bags are lost. When they do leave the airport, your taxi has left. they had to take an expensive taxi themselves. Five days it took for the bags to arrive. Five days! Two days later, they returned home. This holiday was extremely bad. My parents want you to return their money.)

You are doing great malach. I've missed the last two weeks. Perhaps I'll catch up this week.

Describe your dream job. Explain why it's your dream job. What education or skills do you need? What do you need to do to be successful in this job?

Thanks for the weekly challenge! It's encouraging me to write about new things. And to be inventive to use the little I can say. (I had a whole different story in my head for this challenge, but could not get it down properly..)

Comments: I have a description of a magician by Satyajit Ray in my TY book which I wanted to use as the 'dream job', but I need to work more on that passage to know how to use its vocabulary. So, I was forced to find something else which I could write about - and hey, a language-learner writing about learning languages? That's a bit more straightforward!

সাংবাদিক: নমস্কার! আপনার সাথে আলাপ করে, খুব ভাল লাগল। আপনি বিখ্যাত ভাষা ছাত্র আর শিক্ষক। আপনার কি ভাবে সফল হয়েছে?
মালেক: নমস্কার! আমি শুধু দুটো ভাষায় জানি - বাংলা আর জার্মান। কিন্তু অনেক লোক এই ভাষাগুলো শিখতে চায়। আমি নিজে জার্মান শিখতে পাঁচ বছর সময় নেন। আর বাংলা, কুড়ি বছর সময়!
সাংবাদিক: আর কি ভাবে শিখেছেন?
মালেক: অনেক উপায়ে। আমি অনেক বইগুলো পড়েছিলাম। আমি মানুষের সাথে কথা বলেছিলাম। আমি তিনটে বছর সময় কলিকাতায় থাকেছিলাম। আমি অনেক ছাত্র শেখানো হয়েছে। এবং ধীরে ধীরে, আমি নিজেকে শেখান শেখানো।
সাংবাদিক: বাঃ। আমি জানি, সবাই হিংসুতে। সফল কি সবচেয়ে জরুরী?
মালেক: সহজ, ছেড়ে দিতে না। ছেড়ে দিতে না।
সাংবাদিক: এটা আপনার শ্বপ্নের কাজ?

Rough translation:

Journalist: Hello. It's good to meet you. You are a famous language learner and teacher. How have you become successful?
Malech: Hello. I only know two languages - Bengali and German. But many people want to learn these two languages. I took five years to learn German. And 20 years for Bengali!
Journalist: And how did you learn?
Malech: In many ways. I have read many books. I talked to people. I lived in Calcutta for three years. I have taught many students. And gradually, I taught myself to teach.
Journalist: Wonderful! I know that everyone is jealous! What is the most important to succeed?
Malech: Easy, do not give up. Do not give up.
Journalist: Is this your dream job?
Malech: My dream job? No. When I was a boy, I wanted to be a famous magician - like Cardini!
Journalist: For our audience, anything more you want to say?
Malech: Find a good job. Like the song says - i work 8 hours, i sleep 8 hours, and i have 8 hours for fun! I learn languages in my fun time.

Comments: I kept it simple, and looked up a few words.

আমার প্রিয় ধরনের সংগীত ক্লাসিক। আমার প্রিয় সংগীতকার ১৭৭০ থেকে ১৮২৭ পর্যন্ত বেঁচে থেকেছিল, ওঁর নাম "Ludwig van Beethoven"। জার্মান ক্লাসিকের সংগীত অনেক নানা রকম আছে। শব্দ কিছু, শব্দ ছাড়া কিছু। এক, দুই, তিন, চার বাদ্যযন্ত্র কিছু, এমনকি অনেক বাদ্যাযন্ত্রগুলো কিছু। আমি চার গায়ক পছন্দ। চার গায়ক চার বাদ্যযন্ত্র আছে - দুটো বেহালা, একটা ভায়োলা, এবং কটা সেলো। বেটোফেন পিয়ানো বাজাতেন। ভিএনায় বেটোফেন প্রথাম বিখ্যাত হয়েছিলেন। তাঁর ১৩৮ বড় গঠন লিখেছিলেন।
আমিও বাংলার রবিনদ্রা সংগীত উপভোগ করি। এ গানগুলো ঠাকুর লিখেছিলেন। তাঁর প্রায় ২০০০ গানগুলো লিখেছিলেন। যখন আমি শুনি তখন সব খুব সুন্দর আছে। কিন্তু যখন আমি শব্দ বুঝি তখন সাধারণত গানটা খুব দুঃখিত আছে।

(Loose translation: My favourite type of music is classical. My favourite composer lived from 1770 to 1827. His name is Ludwig van Beethoven. German classical music has many different forms. Some with voice, some without. Some with one, two, three, four instruments, and some with many instruments. I like quartets. A quartet has four instruments - two violins, one viola, and one cello. Beethoven used to play the piano. He became famous first in Vienna. He composed 138 major works.
I also like Bengali Robindra Sangeet. These songs were written by Tagore. He wrote around 2000 songs. When I listen then they are very beautiful. However, when I understand the words then the songs are usually very sad.)

Since I won't be around this weekend I'm posting this early.

Week 8 (Jun 30 - July 6)
Discuss the next trip you plan to take. If you don't have a trip planned than write about a trip you'd like to take. Where are you going (or where would you like to go)? What activities will you do when you arrive? What food will you eat? etc...

Comments: This was easier to write, only I checked some spellings of names.

আমার আগামী ছুটি কলিকাতাকে দেখতে করব। কলিকাতা পশ্চিম বাংলার রাজধানি। আমরা কলিকাতায় বিমান করে যাব। প্রথম আমরা বিমান করে লন্ডন থেকে ডিল্লিতে যাব, তাহলে কলিকাতায় যাব। কলিকাতায় অনেক যায়গাটগুলো দেখতে চাই। বিখ্যাত হাওড়া সেতু আছে। এই সেতু হুগলি নদীর উপর আছে। পার্ক ষ্ট্রীট কবরখানায় আমি ডিড়োজিওর কবরের পাথর খুঁজতে চাই। আমরা রবীন্দ্র সংগীত শুনতে থিয়েটারে যেতে চাই। বাঙালীলক মাছ এবং ভাত খেতে পছন্দ করে। আমরাও নানা রকম মাছ এবং ভাত খাবার খেব।

(Rough translation: Our next holiday will be in Kolkata. Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal. We will be flying to Kolkata. First we will fly from London to Delhi, then we go to Kolkata. I want to see many places in Kolkata. There is the famous Howrah bridge. This bridge is over the Hooghly river. In the Park Street Cemetery, I want to find Derozio's grave stone. We will also go to the theater to hear some Rabindra Sangeet music. Bengalis like to eat fish and rice. So we will also eat different types of fish and rice.)

Week 9 (Jul 7 - Jul 13)
Describe an object of art that you like. It could be a painting, sculpture, etc. Describe it. Why do you like it? What feelings does it evoke?

Comments: I tried to be more creative, at the expense of accuracy, and so there are several parts I need to get checked.

আমার সামনে এক ক্যালেন্ডর ঝুলন্ত হয়। এক চিত্র প্রতি মাসরে জন্য আছে। শিল্পির নাম আলান লী, বিখ্যাত টলকিন শিল্পি। টলকিন আমার পৃথিবী সম্বন্ধে লেখেছিল - কেন? কারণ আমার নাম মালাছ্! অনেক বছর আগে, আমার পূর্বপুরুষ প্রথাম মানুষ যিনি পরীর ভাষা শেখেছিলাম।
লীর চিত্রগুলো খুব ভাল। আজের মাস জুলাই এবং এই মাসের চিত্র "ওর্ফঅল্ছ এছর্ " হয়। টুওর এই দেওয়াল আর দরজা দেখল। পাতলা সংকীর্ণ সব বদ্ধ করা হয়। সুধু একটু সূর্যরশ্মি পথকে দেখায়।
এই যায়গাতা চিন্তা করে, আমি কিছু ভয় বোধ করি। দেওয়ালের পিছনে, দরজা মধ্যে, গোন্দোলিনের শহর ছিল। মোরগত গোন্দোলিন ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছেন। আমরা ওই দিনগুল ভুলে করে পারি না।
কিন্তু ছবিটায় টুওর তার দীর্ঘ হাঁটা শেষ করছে। তার সামনে তিনি বন্ধুদের জন্য দেখেয়।

(Rough translation: In front of me hangs a calender. It has a picture for every month. The artist's name is Alan Lee, the famous Tolkien artist. Tolkien wrote about my world - why? Because my name is Malach! Many years ago, my forefather was the first human to learn the elvish language. Lee's pictures are very good. Today's month is July and the picture for this month is "Orfalch Echor". Tuor saw this wall and door. The narrow ravine is blocked. Only a little sunlight shows the path. Thinking of this place, I feel a little afraid. Behind the wall, through the door, there once was the city of Gondolin. Morgoth destroyed Gondolin. We can not forget those times. But in the picture, Tuor has finished his long journey. In front of him, he looks for friends.)
