Language: Chinese
Challenge: Half
Current level: Weak B1
Comments, links: The film part is really easy. I binge watch these historical dramas in a couple of weeks without evening a challenge. The reading part is where it gets difficult. By the time the challenge ends this year I hope my reading ability will have improved to the point of being able to read light novels. For now though, I'll only be reading comics. I'm not sure how to count them, since they are comics, so I will count 10 chapters = 1 book.

Comments: After binge watching a half challenge in 2 weeks, I'm curious to see how far I can go here. Can't read yet, so I can't do the book challenge, but may need to update this to a double, if I keep at the current pace. And don't run out of interesting Chinese Dramas.
Yeah... Let's make it a double! Cheers!

5 pages of comics count as 1 page, if that helps. The rules are in the first post.

Re: 2024/25 Super Challenge Registration Thread
Language: German
Challenge: Full
Current level: A2, but I live in Germany in an English/Spanish bubble so my comprehension is a bit higher than it should be for my half-hearted efforts so far (until a few months ago when I decided I will finally learn this language) and what I can actually produce.
Comments, links: This is exactly how I learned English back in the 90s, watching series and reading tons of books and fanfiction, so I'm hoping to replicate it in German. I've also been watching a lot of content in German on Youtube, which has been very useful. It seems like a good idea to document this somehow and keep myself accountable. For film, I will continue watching Youtube, Arte documentaries and binge-watching Netflix. For reading, I was planning to jump right into L/R with Harry Potter but I got cold feet after the first chapter so while I study B grammar I will start with graded readers and the easiest of all the children's books I collected over the years, maybe some comics, and then resume HP. I want to reread 100 años de soledad in Spanish, I might as well try to read it auf Deutsch too.
