Memorize New Vocabulary: The Techniques Every Learner MUST Know (Right From The Start)

Luca Lampariello

Today, I will share with you the 3 fundamental steps to memorize new vocabulary: decoding, storage and retrieval.

But first, I will dispel the myths about learning new words and I will give you a real-life example to see why forgetting is not only beneficial, but very necessary.

Then, I will touch upon the one type of repetition that you need and how you can do it without deliberate effort. Also, I will tell you how you can learn words in context by using association and dynamics.

Memory is like a muscle. It atrophies if it’s not used. Make it work on a daily busy and it will become a very powerful tool.

All Language Resources
https://www.alllanguageresources.com/
I'm Nick Dahlhoff, the creator of All Language Resources. I'm not a super polyglot who speaks 20 languages. I'm not here to teach you how to learn a language - countless people are more qualified to do that than me. But, I have tried out an insane number of language learning resources. This site aims to be the most comprehensive and least biased place to figure out which language learning resources are worth using. To learn more about myself, the site, or our reviewing process, check out our about page.

SimSums: Non-Fiction Book Summaries For Language Learners

https://www.alllanguageresources.com/simsums/

Many language learners, myself included, have expressed frustration with the materials available for those around an upper-intermediate level. At this stage, most native materials are still too challenging to really sit down and enjoy learning from but materials created for language learners are too simple and boring.

SimSums is something that I wished existed for myself. I love learning about new things and combining that curiosity with language learning sounded like the perfect mix to me. I wanted to learn about new things while learning a language.

This biography of Steve Jobs takes an inside look into the life of Apple’s eccentric founder. You’ll learn about how his experiences with LSD and meditation helped shape his innovations and how his life was cut short by cancer.

This simplified summary is written and narrated in Venezuelan Spanish.

Upper Intermediate Spanish Practice – Fluent In 3 Months

Fluent In 3 Months (2014) was written by Benny Lewis, a polyglot who runs the most popular language learning blog on the internet. He gives actionable strategies to learn to speak a new language quicker than most would think possible.

This simplified summary is written and narrated in Mexican Spanish

Thank you for posting all these great resources. It's not easy to find these things. From one you just posted:

A really well done video. It's been up for a year and she's done dozens and dozens of videos, but only gets about 1000 views per video, so largely undiscovered.

Deepl with text to speech voices

For whatever reason, Deepl works differently in the EDGE browser: it offers excellent TTS voices for the original text and its translation. Additionally, you can manipulate the length of pauses between the words by adding a few commas or points.

Órbita Laika is a late night show of science and humor broadcast on the Spanish network La 2 that began its weekly broadcasts on December 7, 2014. The name of the program is due to the dog Laika, who was the first terrestrial living being to orbit the Earth.
