How I Learned Spanish
Steve Kaufmann - lingosteve

I don't worry about how well I speak Spanish, nor about the mistakes I make. I can't control how others react to my Spanish. I can only control how I feel about using the language, and these are feelings of pleasure and satisfaction, regardless of my level. I have always enjoyed my 60 year association with the Spanish language and culture.

A barkeep in Spain or Mexico, one, mocked me once for ordering 'una cerveza.' "You just want one?" I suppose I should have said, "Quiero cerveza, por favor." Still not sure why he mocked me, actually.

Español Avanzado looks like a useful book. Do you recommend owning it?

I think it's not a book, just random annotations for their texts dealing extensively with difficult grammar. I google for something on their site when I think they may have it: espanolavancado ir participio

Cómo aprender inglés en casa

Steve Kaufmann
- lingosteve

Possibly he was mocking my accent and not my use of the article. One of those moments in time I would like to have back so that I could ask him. :?
