The Power of Babel
multilingualism

Deepl now has a text-to-speech function for the original text and its translation

overall it offers now;

- a translation from L2 to L1
- with a click it offers alternative translations for L1
- text to speech for L1 and L2 (this seems to be botched in the Firefox browser, but works fine in the Edge browser)
- a dictionary function for both L2 and L1: the major meanings appearing at the bottom

It's much like "Learning Languages with YouTube, Netflix etc" which doesn't work in Firefox (yet)

Easysubs

Improve your language skills by watching TV shows and movies.

Features:
- Support multiple video services: Netflix, YouTube (videos and originals), KinoPub (kino.pub), English With Fun (https://english-with-fun.com)
- Word and full subtitle translation. Just hover over the word you want to translate it or click on subtitles for translation all text.
- Export words to learning services. Support: LinguaLeo (lingualeo.com) and Puzzle English (https://puzzle-english.com/)
- Rewind to previous and next subtitle. Press to arrow button on keyboard for rewind by subtitles.
- Subtitles progress bar. At the bottom of the player, there is a subtitles progress bar to simplify navigation between subtitles. Click on the progress bar to rewind the video to the desired point.
- Subtitles settings. The extension allows you to adjust the size of the subtitles and their delay.
- Change subtitles position. You can drag subtitles to any part of the screen.
- Custom subtitles. You can upload your custom subtitles if they are not on the video service, supported SRT and VTT formats.
- Show all available audio tracks and subtitles on Netflix regardless of region.

Lingster Academy online courses for learners of German with tons of man-made subtitles

This looks extremely useful to me: you can convert the SRT files into texts and align them bidirectionally.
Then add some good Spanish TTS voices.

About the use of "vale" in Spanish

https://www.delcastellano.com/verbo-val ... 2021-02-22

El verbo que vale para todo

Cuando un extranjero viene a la península —desconozco la situación en otras zonas hispanohablantes—, se asombra de la cantidad de veces que oye una palabra: «vale».

Los propios españoles no son conscientes de ello, pero basta con tratar —en español, claro— con algún extranjero que lleve al menos un par de días por aquí. A la primera ocasión que uno diga «vale», es muy posible que el extranjero repita la interjección no sin una sonrisa en la boca.

-----------------

Los usos de "VALE" en español. ¡No te confundas! "Vale ya", "Me vale", "Ya te vale", "Más te vale"

El arroz verde - Cuento corto
green rice, short story

https://www.spanishinput.com/stories/el ... 1-fiction#

Hi! I'm Miguel, a Spanish language teacher. If you want to reach fluency in Spanish, the main thing you must do is: Get lots of Input. Read a lot, listen a lot and watch a lot. However, it's very important that the input you get is comprehensible. Otherwise, it's just noise.

The stories on this website have been written using high-frequency word forms. Level 1 stories adhere to a list of the top 5,000 word forms, and level 2 stories stick to a list of the top 10,000 word forms. Any word outside each list is highlighted in bold so you're aware that you don't need to learn it right now.

The percentage of new words (words outside each list) has been kept at 2% or below. This 98% comprehension level is ideal for smooth reading, as it allows you to guess the meaning of unknown words.
