Re: My Spanish study favourites (gear, people, methods, resources....)
The Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (BCBL) offers us Vocabulary Test, a game with a series of words in Spanish that allows us to evaluate our knowledge of the language through a simple exercise in which we are presented with 100 words, some of them invented, and we have to answer which ones we know or do not know. In this way, this resource can be taken to the classroom as a way of assessing students' level of knowledge of the language and at the same time expanding their vocabulary with new words.

I like that Pablo does his videos completely in Spanish and his primary focus is communication. He wants his audience to understand. He uses simple language and lots of gestures and a bit of repetition.
To me, Pablo exemplifies Schekhtam strategies in which one doesn't let linguistic competence limit meaningful communication. He's a native of Spain, so any deficiency in linguistic competence is not on his side of the street. Rather, he gives fantastic, implicit examples of using simple language, gestures and facial expressions to get a point across.
I messed around a bit with YouTube's Playback Speed feature since he sometimes demonstrates multiple circumlocutions to fortify his communication to maximize his viewer's understanding. One of the neat things about speeding up the video is that body language becomes more apparent and using that well is a skill in and of itself.

Via Kunig: 500 años de peregrinaje
Mittelalterlexikon
Hermann Künig von Vach (around 1450 - after 1495). Son of a respected family in Vacha an der Wrra (northeast of Fulda). Enrolled in Erfurt in 1466, where he received his bachelor's degree in the faculty of arts in 1469 as Hermannus Koninck de Vach. Shortly afterwards he joined the Servite order there, where the history of the monastery calls him a terminator (alms collector). A later entry in the same source describes him as absent, which may be justified with a pilgrimage to Compostela. In any case, around 1495 he wrote such a detailed description of the pilgrimage from Einsiedeln in Switzerland to Santiago de Compostela and back to Aachen that one can deduce from his own experience. The little book went to print immediately and had several new editions by 1521. It is regarded as "the classic classic German pilgrim guide to Compostela" and gives valuable information on the nature of roads and paths, distances, holy places or water points along the way, exchange rates, customs duties and opportunities to be cheated, food, to hostels and hospitals, hosts and their friendliness or hostility towards Germans and much more

The original prose in some kind of late Medieval German can be seen from page 98 in the archive source mentioned by Kraut. Before that there is a long rant in Modern German.
