I created a resource hub for those who like learning languages via playing video games.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post this here for anyone who may be interested in a community I am (slowly) trying to build up. I created a website called LANGARCADE.com - There, I have a weekly blog where I write about the benefits of learning languages playing video games. There is also a forum that I am hoping to bring people together who are interested in this sort of thing.

I also made a Video Game-based English learning Instagram account @langarcade for those who aren't native speakers...

https://www.instagram.com/langarcade/?hl=en

This isn't any ads or anything as I am just an English language teacher who enjoys learning other languages by playing video games...

Interesting.

I've signed up -- I'm starting a masters in serious games in a couple of weeks, so it's right up my street.

One minor quibble -- the things you currently have listed as "Language Learning Games" aren't games as much as gamified courses. There tends to be a distinction drawn between "serious games" "learning games", where playing the game teaches you the target information/skill, and "gamification" "gamified learning", where learning exercises are wrapped in points, XP and "achievements" to make it look like a game.

Compare with (for example) Slime Forest Adventure, where you're playing an old-school Japanese RPG, and your fighting mechanic is recognising syllables or words in the various Japanese scripts.

Edit for correct terminology.

I have seen you a few times on Reddit :) I have signed up as well! I practically gave up videogames in order to learn Spanish so it's nice to be able to enjoy it again AND be able to practice my Spanish.

Here are some more RPG's and JRPG's that have many language options:
* Animal Crossing
* Pokémon
* Ace Attorney (the one I am playing right now, highly recommended)
* Stardew Valley

I'd reckon more than 90% of games made or distributed by Nintendo are in the 8 major video game languages: Spanish, English, German, French, Italian, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) and of course, Japanese

I'd love to add AAA games that have dubbed audio but I only know a handful and even then I don't know in which languages they are available in. I'd love to create a 'database' of sorts. Dubbing videogames is going out of fashion I suppose but there is still a fair amount out there! Most if not all AAA games at least have subtitles though.

Langarcade.com is currently pointing to a Wix holding page. Is the site dead already?

I've been stumbling around 'My Summer Car'-- which I think is the 'Most Finnish Game in the World.' Or I'm open to suggestions, if anyone knows of any other games of equivalent Finnish-ness.

This is why people don’t get involved with new sites — they never last.
