split from Wiki extension discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=872

Oh, yeah. I've even used content there in the past.
It's a great start but I'd like to see it as a single sign-on with this site and without ads.
I know the ads come with the free hosting over there. It's a price to pay. Would love to see that ported into an integrated phpBB/Wiki media site.

Or for the time being, if there are other priorities for the mods that can be sufficient.

Learn Any Language Wikia

Postby Takra jenai » Tue Jul 28, 2015 3:07 pm

We are not an official offshoot of the How To Learn Any Language Forum, but at first our goal is to distill some of the best content from it into an easy to use reference.

Something which might raise all sorts of copyright issues...
I would not post that on a wiki without FX express permission or the author's of specific content.
Copy pasta is a no-no. Editing and creating a derivative work is always a better option.

They do not just copy and paste there.
We do not want posts to be directly copied from the forum, but links back to the primary source would be helpful.

Copy pasta is a no-no.

But I love pasta ! Endless, self-replicating pasta would be GREAT !

Autocorrect strikes again.

Just kidding. I agree that any wiki content should not be directly copied, but reworked in to another reorganized form.
I think that was the goal of the wikia, but others know far more than I do about that.

I didn't even realize wikia has ads, since I use adblock plus. I highly recommend everyone to get it, even if you think ads don't bother you much.
Also just in case, you don't need to register in order to use the wikia. Although your IP will be saved if you edit it as an unregistered user

LyricsTraining now has Finnish and Polish :)

Thanks for the reco - that site really needs an adblocker. I had not installed one because - well all add-ons slow browsers a little and my machines have a bit of work to do. But it is a brilliant recommendation - thanks!

Not an autocorrect error but a construct.

Anyway, I'm glad the wiki is there.

I just noticed that this was split from the original topic - which is fine and useful - but can we get a warning or link in the future when this is done to avoid confusion?

(off-topic, I know, but I'm definitely adding this to my vocabulary)
