Site like Fluentu / Yabla for Norwegian

Postby desitrader » Wed Feb 21, 2018 5:39 pm

Does anyone know of any site like Fluentu or Yabla, where they have authentic videos with correct (downloadable) subtitles?

I am aware of Norwegian Class 101 but the material is scripted and made for language learners. I am after authentic native material.

Thanks.

Maybe the functionality of Lingo Player meets your needs

http://oaprograms.github.io/lingo-player/

You can test with this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaKtYAMkXCs

Take the address here and download the video and the subtitles in Norwegian and English:

http://www.lilsubs.com/#

Run them in Lingo Player (it works, I checked, I had to wait for all the functionalities (stop, rerun, voice repeat, slow voice repeat, translation etc to pop up)

If you can access Norwegian satellite programs: NRK1 etc, you can make recordings of the programs that might interest you, separate the subtitles from the video and run them in Lingo Player

I already have 4K Video Downloader which can save YouTube videos and extract closed captions. That's not what I'm after, because the quality of closed captions is generally poor. The alternative is searching for better subtitles myself... but that takes time away from learning.

I'm looking for a site that already has done all the legwork for Norwegian videos. I'm quite happy to pay for a subscription.

The best solution would be for Fluentu or Yabla to offer Norwegian but I don't see that happening because of the limited appeal.
