Oops! Thank you for pointing it out.Serpent wrote:Really weird to see Czech on such a list Thank you!
Anyway, if INALCO considers Czech as une langue orientale, who am I to say otherwise?

As the Chinese is made by Bellassen, you can see the course based on his book here. (the audio uses flash, so you have to activate it)

And I double-checked where Mazatec is spoken. I did notice it immediately but I was hoping it was a coincidence that the name seems pretty similar to Aztec (I was half-hoping the c is pronounced differently too). Looks like a particularly weird kind of orientalism Or at least an unfortunate name for what's basically a "misc" category. Maybe this was the first time I came across Mazatec and I didn't check.

Yes, but all the videos are transcribed in french, and the teachers speak slowly and clearly.Serpent wrote:Alsoarghare the courses French-based?
Out of curiosity, I subscribed to the chinese course. 5 hours/week during 7 weeks, 100 basic chinese characters to learn and the basic skills for conversation. The web site is clear and simple to use, so all seems pretty engaging.

All I was able to find by clicking the link were Chinese, Czech, and Arabic. Where are the rest? Could someone direct me?

OH MY !!!
INALCO publications and lessons are excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing these courses appear. Particularly the Hebrew and Mazatec lessons!
The first contact kits are available for Czech, Chinese and Arabic at https://www.fun-mooc.fr/cours/#search?query=inalco
The other language are promised for later in the year. I do hope they arrive!
Note that there is also an advanced B2 French class there too.

Oh dear, I didn't even bother trying to read the French. Not because I didn't want to try, I just didn't expect that sort of information to be around when I clicked the main link which is probably where it was. (I would've used my Spanish to try to figure it out - maybe I thought it was too difficult to do that and my brain shorted out.)
I'll be watching that space for the other languages.
That school is cool. Apparently they have Malagasy offered as a program of study up to the PhD level - I dig it.
