bato: A Filipino programming language based on Ruby

Postby emk » Sat Jan 13, 2018 7:56 pm

I've mentioned in other threads that programmers in most countries have a huge incentive to learn English, especially if they work with open source. This is because lots of the lowest-level documentation is never translated, especially for smaller but still important projects.

But this is fun: the Bato programming language. This appears to be based on the Ruby programming language, but with everything translated into Filipino.

A sample:

Code: Select all

kapag 1 > 0
  iprint "Kumusta mundo!"
kung_hindi
  iprint "Mayroong sira"
wakas

Does anyone else know of any translated programming languages?

Have you heard of Qalb?

BTW, MS Excel function names have been localized in many languages. For example, in the German version of MS Excel, CEILING() has been localized as OBERGRENZE() and COUNTBLANK() as ANZAHLLEEREZELLEN().

In French I have heard of Linotte and FRENCH.
I know there have been others but they've died a good death.

And apparently there are many....
