Here is a description of how to extract subtitles from a TS file in HD. This allows you to work with all the TV programs of the freeview channels in the UK, German channels on Astra, Spanish channels etc, if recorded with an Enigma2 receiver like Dreambox, Vu+, Gigablue etc. (Use ProjectX for TS files in SD as described above.)

Re: ExtractingTV subtitles and working with them in Lingo-Player
I tried to copy the subtitle text (without time stamps etc) from Lingo-Player to run it in DeepL. For some reason you (I?) can't do this. I found a way round.
https://www.rev.com/captionconverter converts the SRT-file beautifully into normal text. Then I ran the text in DeepL, and this is the result:

lingualmediaplayer

play video files in various formats with external subtitles
play online YouTube videos that have subtitles (Closed Captions)
choose to automatically repeat the last phrase
jump directly to the needed phrase and corresponding part of the video
display a list of all phrases used in the video
auto pause after each phrase (can be disabled)
switch fast between audio-tracks in different languages
turn on a second set of subtitles
synchronizing subtitles and sound manually (in the case subtitles are ahead or behind the sound)
translate the subtitles using online dictionaries
fullscreen mode

Re: ExtractingTV subtitles and working with them in Lingo-Player
Here is a simple way to download videos + subtitles of Spanish national channels.
Paste the URL "http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/videos/cuentame-como-paso/"
here: http://www.descargavideos.tv/changelog
Download video and subtitles. They can be used in VLC-Player.
"Descargar transcripcion" provides "srt" files
In order to use them in Lingo PLayer, you must convert the subtitles (which are "vtt") into a "srt" file:

Re: ExtractingTV subtitles and working with them in Lingo-Player
I have the following problem: under the button "Subtitle Listing" of Lingo Player I can find the complete subtitle text of a film as normal text. I want to copy it and take it to Deepl to get it translated.
Normally I would mark the text with a left click and then copy it with a right mouse click. Yet, this copy function does not work here. Or does it?
I know that I can export the SRT file with the subtitles to "caption converter" to get the text but I would prefer to do this in Lingo Player.

Lingo Player doesn't work properly any more: Google Translate has gone. You could use the LAMP Player instead, but it does not run so smoothly

Although I am very late to this party, and although the app no longer works, thanks for the work you put in to put this thread together.Kraut wrote:Lingo Player doesn't work properly any more: Google Translate has gone. You could use the LAMP Player instead, but it does not run so smoothly
