Taipei, last I heard. Either way, he'd still have access to sites like upwork and fiverr

Wow! I wonder why he didn't just go to Upwork.

Mike Campbell lives in the States? I’m pretty sure there are plenty of Iranians in the States?

He lives in Taiwan.

Well, that was a total lack of reading comprehension on my part - MC even mentions Taipei in the quote! I should not post before fully waking up.

Yes, Leosmith, upwork or similar seems like a good idea.

I had imagined he is quite practised at commissioning voice talent. Meetings at the Iranian border seem quite dramatic and unnecessary when there are Iranians all over the world (and the internet exists) - but my brain is clearly not functioning well on this issue.

Never mind.

Ariel was the person on Facebook inquiring about the Persian recordings, not the voice talent.

Mr. Campbell, incidentally, has gone one step further than living in Taipei - he has become a Taiwanese citizen. I too wonder why he doesn't use Upwork.

I as well as other day-1 subscribers got this email a few days ago. It hints at a couple of things I haven't seen on the Facebook or blog, so I'll copy it here:

Hi!

Thank you for being one of the earliest subscribers and supporters of Glossika! We wouldn’t have been able to get this far without your continued support.

We’ve completed a lot over the past year:
• Release of 15 new languages
• Continuous updates to sentences ( > 98% red flags removed)
• Additional sentences across A1 to B2 levels
• Two major algorithm updates
• Offline download and syncing across platforms
• Creation of extended learning tools and many other features

There is so much more we’re working on:
• C1 and C2 Content
• Native app support
• New platforms enabling you to build
• More support for African, American, Asian, European languages
• Alphabet training platform
----
and then a message notifying me that as an early subscriber I will receive a discount on an annual renewal.

Would you guys recommend Glosika instead of Assimil? I want to start learning Swedish and I'm looking for good resources. Any recommendation is welcomed!

As far as I understand, the Glossika products are not a course of language instruction. Rather, they are large sets of sentences the practice of which will help the student achieve a level of automaticity in the target language. Although a transcript and translation are provided, there are no explanations of how the sentences are constructed. It is assumed that the user has already attained a level of approximately CEFR A2. Thus, you would be better off completing Assimil, or some other course of instruction, before attempting Glossika.

As to your question concerning the study of Swedish, you might wish to review the following discussion threads (please feel at liberty to add your own comments/questions to these threads):

As Speakeasy mentioned, Glossika will be much more enjoyable for you if you have a solid foundation (A2-ish). If you have never studied Swedish and don't know any related languages, i'd go for Assimil and come back to Glossika afterwards. Assimil will be much cheaper, too, especially if you're paying for Glossika's new subscription service.

Kazakh and Uzbek have just been released.
