Amazing. Seems like the whole thread, not just this comment, has been deleted.

I am just glad I have the old Korean and German courses, and I don't need to worry about how much he will be charging people in future.

Its like watching a car crash in slow motion. If he does change the pricing model, what happens to those people who paid $1000 for 4 years. I would not be surprised if they suddenly only had access to a single language. This has just devolved into daytime tv style entertainment now.

Not released as an app, buggy, missing features, confusion over discounts, expensive, company not understanding its customer base, pricing models seemly likely to change on a whim - entertainment gold.

As much as I like the original, and was willing to give the new one a fair shot shot, despite the fact that it's absurdly expensive, Mike has turned me off Glossika itself.

Yep, $30/month/language is aimed at businesses who want bilingual employees. I'm sure there will be another model we won't immediately see which gives a business, say, 10 licenses for $275 a month and the business can parcel it out to 10 employees of its choosing.

If that's his business model, fine. If he doesn't want any money from the good folks here or in the Glossika FB group, fine. But I won't be helping his business flourish if this is the model.

I'd bet the "overwhelming evidence" is statistics showing that most people stick to just one language with the new system. It's typical business stuff to look at data like that and make decisions about how to price the product. But Chrissake, don't go to a forum where everyone is saying the opposite and reveal that strategy.

Putting aside the horrific business sense for a second:
I'm sorry if I've come off as a bootlicker, but I really do think this is the best next step to improve the Glossika product. Not just add new languages and work out the kinks.
And I can't help but admire Mike for his success in slowly turning the ideas in his head into a real thing. I know I'm not the only one who comes up with tons of project ideas that never come to fruition, even about things I'm passionate about. I think over time the product itself will continue to deliver on its promise to help people learn faster, as well as being a growing collection of free minority language courses. The teased Associates platform could very easily be another trainwreck, but if the stars align it could really be an incredible source for lesser-known languages all over the world.

I bought the year's subscription at $20 a month with the early bird coupon. At the moment I'm not sure I'll renew it. I'm pretty averse to paying for language course stuff, so after a year rolls around we'll see how much value I'm really getting out of it and if Mike has gotten any better at PR.

Fluency123 courses have disappeared from glossika's website.

I'm sad that a valuable resource has been removed, apparently to force people to use the new product.

Or force people to make the unhappy decision to not use Glossika products at all (which is what I did). I was ready to buy two or three courses during the sale, but the questionable behavior by Glossika representatives made me steer clear. It's disappointing.

There is the possibility that they will continue publishing in the future, just in a different format. But for now, yes, it's the end of the "old" Glossika. It was nice having all the courses be on sale, though. Unfortunately some of the newer courses were only released on the new platform.

I wrote a (I hope) polite, but fairly blunt email to Glossika, and I received a very nice email from Sheena Chen, which said that changes were a question of the survival of the company.
I find that a lot easier to accept than being told that I don't understand language learning because I'm not over the moon about their new product. :D
