It would be nice however if there were something a bit different - all the pronunciation, alphabet, liaison stuff is covered on a million other channels and in a million books already.

It would be cool if you did something a bit different - it would also make you stand out. Maybe subtitled conversations, breakdowns of popular French media, stuff like that.

To me, when teaching on youtube one needs to have a purpose for posting what they post - is the material already available presented badly ? Is it not available ? Is it poorly produced ? Are there essential bits missing ? Basically what i'm saying is that unless your videos on alphabet for example improve on the glut of stuff already out there then what's the point in putting it up ?

Again, not having a go, just saying :D

I plan on doing all that, but I want anyone to be able to learn French from scratch on my channel, so I start with the basics. When I get to a more advanced level, I will add more variety.

LesRonces wrote:Fair do's, but it might be better for your time/input ratio to simply link to channels who already have it covered. Then they will see traffic coming from your direction so win-win !

I see so many channels who simply list a verb, show you the tenses and that's it. Stuff you can google in 2 seconds.

If you get to the grit of the language you will be a resounding success i feel.

I'm actually using a method more like Duolingo. That is, I build each lesson on the previous ones. (But unlike Duolingo, I spend a bit more time on explaining grammar.)
For example, in a lesson on verb conjugation, I use the vocabulary already learned in the previous lessons to give example sentences on how to use the verb.
I feel that way it is easier to really focus on the new subject that is being taught in a specific lesson, all while reviewing the vocabulary that was learned in previous lessons. That way, I keep the sentence structure very simple at first, so learners don't feel overwhelmed by seeing stuff they haven't learned about yet. And as they get to a more advanced level, the sentences will gradually get more complex as I integrate all the notions they have learned. When I get to that point, I will start teaching about informal speech, real conversations, differences in dialects, etc.

I'm also doing this for fun, not just to get "success". This is a long-term project for me and I want to enjoy the ride, not just "get there". ;)

Lesson 15: How to use qualifying adjectives, where to place them in a sentence, how changing the place of an adjective (before or after the noun) can change its meaning, how to make adjectives agree in gender and number, and the five adjectives with two masculine singular forms.
https://youtu.be/rVZ1_Ep8BS0

Lección 15: Cómo usar los adjetivos calificativos, dónde colocarlos en una frase, cómo la posición del adjetivo (antes o después del nombre) puede cambiar el significado, la concordancia en género y número, y los cinco adjetivos que tienen dos formas en masculino singular.

One thing that I would appreciate is if you would post the link to your video instead of very large videos in each post. It is a pain to have to scroll past one video after another to get to the end of the message. It makes the page load very slow.

All the best,
Tom

I'm so sorry about that! I edited my previous posts and left only the first lesson as a video. Hopefully, everything will load faster now. ;)
