I just got an e-mail saying it'll be continued through New Year's Day. I wonder sometimes how they can make money off their Assimil books!

The sad thing was the closure of their brick and mortar Harvard square store earlier this year. I had a chance to visit it a couple of times before it bit the dust. At least their online store continues through their (?) Illinois warehouse. It was sad to lose yet another physical specialty bookstore.

I appreciate that this advice might seem somewhat repetitive; however, this morning, I received several Emails from Simon & Schuster announcing their offer of the Pimsleur Unlimited courses at a 50% discount. This sale ends Friday.

Excuse me, maybe I am blind but where do I find this discount? I only find a 10% discount and all the emails I got (and always get) are 10% as well.

Re: Language Programmes - Offers, Sales and Discounts
Bonjour, Finolia! The 50% discount ended last Friday (per my advice) and has been replaced by Simon & Schusters' regular discount of 10% which, as they really represent part of the publisher's marketing plan, I no longer comment on.
However, over the past year, I have noticed that the publisher seems to repeat the offer of 50% discount about every three or four months or so. In addition, the publisher seems to have adopted at least two marketing strategies: (a) offer the 50% discount to everyone who visits their website, and (b) offer the large discounts to previous customers only. As they are in business and want to "move the product", I'm confident that they'll come up with other variants.
I will continue to advise the forum members of these exceptionally low prices as I receive the Emails from the publisher.

Re: Language Programmes - Offers, Sales and Discounts
Hello again, Finolia! It just occured to me that, in cases where Simon & Schuster has restricted the large discounts to previous customers, the fact that this information has become "public knowledge" via this forum, there exists an opportunity for members of the "general public" to request, on an individual basis, that they be permitted to benefit from the otherwise restricted offer. Don't be shy: nothing ventured, nothing gained!
