I got "Learning Vocabulary in Another Language" [GoodReads, Amazon] for Christmas and have been enjoying it. I've been taking notes* as I read it. It's got a lot of useful info in it, backed up by references to studies. Sometimes it confirms or quantifies things I suspected; occasionally, its conclusions surprise me. In both cases, I'm glad to have data behind their suggestions for language-learning.
* As you can see, I haven't been active on the language-learning front for the past 2 months, but that's not the book's fault.
Best books you've read about languages and language learning.
