AioLingua 2022: New FREE courses in FIGS+PC!

Postby Hash » Sat Jul 23, 2022 4:41 am

https://aiopop.com/

By the author of The Word Brain and the Ear2Memory app. Completely free! (PDFs + MP3)

They are currently available in FIGS, Portuguese and Chinese.
If anyone can contact the author (I didn't find any contact info), please tell him that there is a small mistake in the 2nd lesson of the English edition of the Spanish course. The text is in Italian! (the web version is fine)

What does FIGS stand for... apart from the fruit, and a corporation selling expensive clothes? I'm lost. I know what a PC is though :D

Just had a look at chapters 4-6
This is definitely NOT the Spanish you need every day, even less for work.
There is more English, totally unrelated text between chapters than Spanish for dropouts.
The translations are... let's say..approximate.

I guess I know why its called AIO

BTW. Portuguese is nonexistent.

Yes, they beat duolingo in redundancy.

The Portuguese:

By the way, their interface is great, you can click anywhere any Portuguese phrase and you will hear the corresponding audio instantly.

Thank you, must be new.
Yes you learn the foul language which you'd never learn in real life  and the important vocabulary for drugheads. Plus, nobody would use such language around his grandmother.. at least not among the Portuguese in Luxembourg.

What can I say, if you Really need that sort of vernacular, you will learn it in 5 minutes in a dodgy place anywhere in the world. I think in this forum you can find more suitable choices to prepare you for a visit to Portugal, a job interview in Brazil or simple life.

What I've always found odd about this is (from their website):
AioLingua and AioPop are not for young people (teenagers or people in their twenties and thirties). All others will improve their language skills in:

Yet the text and audio is concerned with the lives and goings on of a load of twenty-something students! "All others" don't need some of the vocabulary they use. nor are some of them crying into their beer about things young people are wrestling with. Surely they're exactly for people in their twenties and thirties?
