Netflix browser add-ons and search engines for language learners

Postby Doitsujin » Sat Jun 18, 2022 6:42 am

I finally got myself a Netflix subscription, and, since I really hate its abysmal search engine, I've searched for alternatives.

So far I've found the unofficial Netflix online Global Search web site, which works, but apparently doesn't find all available movies.
For example, when I searched for movies with Egyptian dialect subtitles, it didn't find Paranormal which comes with both MSA and Egyptian dialect subtitles.

For subtitles I've installed Tithen-Firion's Netflix - subtitle downloader GreaseMonkey user script which works fine for me.
(GreaseMonkey is a Firefox browser add-on for JavaScript user scripts. Ports for Chrome and Edge are also available.)

What are your favorite alternative Netflix search engines and add-ons?

I wrote a long post about Netflix browser add-ons here:

Besides that, my favorite extension for Netflix is any VPN that allows me to watch stuff from Spain. Spain has the best stuff in Spanish. Right now I've heard that ExpressVPN is having problems, but my WindScribe VPN is working fine with the Madrid server. Also try the Quito server for Latam stuff. NEVER buy a full year from any VPN, because Netflix is always shutting down servers. It's a cat and mouse game.

If you're learning Spanish here's a list of direct links to hidden Netflix categories:
