Malay Lessons

Postby omerimbun » Sat Jun 06, 2020 11:33 pm

Hi everyone!
I'm omerimbun, and I've received permission from Bluepaint to post this.

I run a website with a few other people that has Malay lessons (of the Malaysian variant) teaching both formal and colloquial Malay, as well as lessons on grammar. It's still quite new and there's not that many posts, but I think it would be beneficial for those who are interested in learning Malay.

We structure the main lessons around a dialogue with the formal version and the colloquial version, and then we explain the phrases/slangs being used (with a vocabulary list as well). This is an example of a lesson: https://omerimbun.squarespace.com/notabelajar/meeting-new-friends-cara-berkenalan-malay

Other posts discuss grammar points that are confusing or just introduce new grammar points such as this one:

We also have a few Malay articles that are quick and easy reads like this one:

I've seen a lot of comments on the internet from foreign learners who have given up learning Malay due to the lack of access to free online resources (and moved on to the Indonesian language). While I've seen some resources for Malay learning, the number is definitely a far cry from other more popular languages such as Japanese, Korean and so on.

My friends and I do this part time on top of our other work, so it is not the fastest growing website but we will try to post at least more than once a month from now on. I know it's not a lot but we try our best! I just wanted to put this website out there so anyone who has an interest can follow our posts and hopefully learn a few things!

This is the website homepage: https://omerimbun.squarespace.com/

As we are still new and slowly growing, any gentle constructive feedback and ideas are welcomed! And of course, any support is welcomed too!
