Announcing a National Emergency Library to Provide Digitized Books to Students and the Public

Postby IronMike » Tue Mar 24, 2020 6:39 pm

Just got this announcement from an MIT librarian friend of mine. I've tested it by checking out a Russian Scientific Reader and it works. N.b., every time I login (on Google Chrome) I get a notice that the site has had a breach. The librarian isn't getting the same warning, so maybe it is just my machine. She uses it frequently, she tells me.

On the main NEL page bottom left is a list of languages. Lots available in Russian, although the first page that pops up for Russian has many in French and English. But I found a way around it: Pick the first book in Russian, then on that book's page, under "topics" click on "Russian language." (Don't click on just "Russian.") I got better results this way. Perhaps it'll work like this for other languages?

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.
