Learn with Spotify top 50 songs by country

Postby mentecuerpo » Sat Oct 12, 2019 8:26 am

Spotify lists the top 50 songs by country.

I read on this site that songs are a great way to learn languages and I agree. So, I share this today for Italian content, it is great.

Combining Spotify with Youtube and Lyrics is a great way to keep uptodate with top chart songs in your target language

As an example:

Spotify: ITALY TOP 50 CHART
Here are the top 10 songs as of 10/12/2019:

Some of these songs have an accompanying YouTube Video that makes it more interesting for learning languages.
You can also get the lyrics of the song with google.
IF you search the name of the song + Karaoke, you get the lyrics with it.

This one and some others have Lyrics:
CHIASSO, by RANDOM (youtube: Random - Chiasso (Prod. Zenit) [Official Video]) : I like this one from the perspective of an Italian language learner, it has Italian subtitles on the YouTube video.

Q GIGOLO (feat. Sfera Ebbasta & Capo Plaza) EXPLICIT Lazza, Sfera Ebbasta, Capo Plaza
Q POOKIE (feat. Capo Plaza) - Remix Aya Nakamura, Capo Plaza
▲ Q TI VOLEVO DEDICARE (feat. J-AX & Boomdabash) Rocco Hunt, J-AX, Boomdabash
▼ Q CHIASSO RANDOM
▲ Q DANCE MONKEY Tones and 1
▼ Q UNA VOLTA ANCORA (feat. Ana Mena) Fred De Palma, Ana Mena
Q BOSSOLI SHIVA
Q TWERK (con Boro Boro) MamboLosco, Boro Boro
▲ Q BARRIO Mahmood
Q NON STO PIU IN ZONA Shiva, Pyrex

Edited: corrected some spelling mistakes and unnecessary words.

36/50 of the current top fifty in France have an explicit warning.

Can anyone top that?

Unfortunately, most of the songs on the Greek playlist are still in English and at this point I'm not even surprised ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Italian top 50 Chart has a lot of explicit content songs on it. I like clean songs and videos. Many times, the song may not be explicit, but the video is explicit in a way. It requires doing some work to filter the play list to your liking.

A good thing from Spotify is that it warns you about which songs have explicit content.

There may be several songs on the top 50 that have songs in other languages. For example, in the Italian top 50 list you can find English songs and Spanish songs mixed with the Italian ones.

If you are learning Spanish, you may have less explicit content. In Spotify top 50 chart for Argentina for today: 18/50 are explicit.

I don't like hip/hop styles songs but it looks like these are the top songs across. In Spanish the hip-hop songs are called "Reggaeton" I don’t know where this name came from, I hate most of these songs.

Anyways, out of 50 songs, you can filter very quickly the songs you like and think appropriate to distil the words and do some learning.

In YouTube I also due a search with the Vevo + Country + 2019, and I get songs that are not on the Spotify 50 list, many are not explicit or hip-hop and more pop.
