How is everyone doing?
@Elsa Maria: glad to hear you've got your copy now, I hope your enjoying it!
@daegga: I've been sorely tempted myself. I wanted to bring it on holiday with me, despite the fact that I'd already read the weeks chapters and also inspire of its highly impractical size. I'm glad it's a new week, so that I can read more!

Re: Nordic Book Club : Odinsbarn
Yesterday I read chapter 4. I'm pretty slow, or at least slower than usual, due to quite many unknown words. Apart from Harry Potter it's the first fantasy novel I'm reading in Finnish. So that might explain something. But I guess I will recognise more and more words with time. I just have to get used to it.
The story is interesting so far. If only I could read faster...
My favourite "sentence" is from the prologue: "Epäsikiötäkö?" I just love this kind of words.
Edit: I just read the next two chapters and they were already easier to read. So now I'm not behind anymore.

So I've already finished book 2.
Goodness!
You take your signature [ "There is not a moment to be lost!"] very seriously!
Now I have to restrain myself from buying the third one until I've done my planned work
I have noticed that that one is more expensive than the first two, at least in the places that I have looked - presumably because it is still relatively new?

I'm tempted to pick it up too, despite being a native speaker of Norwegian. The reviews on Goodreads seem to be almost "suspciously" positive too...

It would be very interesting to have a native-speaker's "take" on it!

I found the book because of my Norwegian friends Goodreads review. Then, when I went to Sweden I found that it was everywhere. Join in, the more the merrier!

Re: Nordic Book Club : Odinsbarn
Just happened to find this:
Odinsbarn av Siri Pettersen anbefalt på Ungdomsbokgildet 2013
https://vimeo.com/92025829
BTW @Elenia: you may not want "Odinsbarn" in English, but I would certainly welcome it! However, it just occurred to me to wonder whether a German version is on the horizon. I noticed with some Scandinavian books, a German edition appears long before the English one.
Does anyone know or has anyone heard rumours?

You are not alone! This is only my second fantasy novel in Danish, and only the second book I have read without an English translation on hand to help me out. Happily, I have decided that the book is not too hard for me to tackle. But I am not sure that I will be able to keep the pace of the group. I will just have to see how it goes.

GT-> "Raven Rings series is currently sold to seven countries (Norway, Brazil, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic)"
(So not Germany, or USA/UK....yet).

Ravneringene-serien er foreløpig solgt til syv land (Norge, Brasil, Sverige, Finland, Danmark, Polen, Tsjekkia).
