I was asked to send my books to the Library. I would like to attach a short letter with them. Could a German native speaker check it for me? I would be grateful.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

Hiermit schicke ich meine beide Bücher als Belegexemplare für die Bibliothek des Bundesarchivs in Freiburg. Ich entschuldige, dass es so lange dauert, aber bei Gelegenheit wollte ich vom Verlag auch ein anderes Buch für mich bestellen und es musste warten, bis es verfügbar wird.

Ich bitte um Entschuldigung, dass es so lange gedauert hat, aber bei Gelegenheit wollte ich vom Verlag auch ein anderes Buch für mich bestellen, und ich musste warten, bis es verfügbar geworden ist.

Even better would be: "Ich bitte um Entschuldigung für die Verzögerung, aber bei Gelegenheit wollte ich von meinem Verlag auch ein anderes Buch für mich bestellen, was zunächst jedoch nicht verfügbar war, sodass ich auf die Lieferung der Exemplare warten musste. Ich bitte um Aufnahme der beiden Belegexemplare in die Sammlung des Bundesarchivs und bedanke mich für Ihre Mühe schon im Voraus." The last sentence is not necessary, but I would consider it very polite.

There are some more, but they asked me for
Korpus Gwardii w bitwie pod Gorlicami [Guards' Corps in the Battle of Gorlice]
and I offered also
Reichseer ery Seeckta (1921-1926) [Reichsheer of the Seeckt's Era (1921-1926)]
since both of them are published mainly on the documents from the Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv in Freiburg im Breisgau

Very interesting! I'd love to be able to read your books, but I don't know Polish (yet). It's on my list for some time in the future.

What concerns your correction of my letter, I forgot to mention that you read in my mind I wanted to write something similar to the last sentence, but I didn't know how to do it, so I skipped it. Luckily for me, however, you added it!
