I'll wait until I think the majority has hit 200 pages before I start commenting.

I just finished Chapter 27 (page 312). I am **really** enjoying the book - so many twist and turns that I didn't expect. I also don't want to post spoilers, so I will wait to post my thoughts till we are all in the same place. Who knew that I would end up loving a Chinese Sci-Fi??? Too bad the 2nd book in the series wasn't nominated for the Sep/Oct LLF Book reads! ;)

Please vote for the September and October 2018 LLF Book Club selection (link below). This is the final downselect vote. The poll will remain open for three days, and you may vote for two books. I included books that had four or more votes in the first round of voting.

Damn. Of all the choices, I figured 20,000 Leagues would be available in Esperanto, but no such luck. Sigh...

I'll read in English whichever ones are chosen.

Depending on the results of the poll - I've already read three of the books, not interested in one, and very interested in two - I might push ahead and read the second book soon.

Well that was a wild finish! It took me three late nights to finish the last section of Three Bodies. It should have been one, but I had to stop and re-read a lot , and to look up far more words than normal, just to understand what was happenIng in Trisolaris.

I already ordered the second book. I might start it in September, since it looks like the club’s choice is one I’ve read already.

For August, Ciudad de las Bestias is 300 pages, with 20 chapters. That makes a manageable 5 chapters a week.

So is Ciudad de las Bestias definitely the August read? Anyone know if it is available in any languages besides Spanish and English? Preferably e-versions?

I'm planning to read the book in German, and I've ordered it from Amazon, but I won't get it until I get back home on the 10th. Meanwhile, I was thinking I could get started a little bit by using the "look inside" function at the site. Of course, I can't get a free sample for my kindle, because my kindle is registered in France...

Book club, you say? La ciudad de las bestias you say? I happen to already have this book (in Spanish) on my kindle, so I think I have to take part :)
