While there are a few frequency lists for Persian/Farsi (1000 words, 10,000 words) none of the ones I have found have either vowels or pronunciation - making them near useless for the new learner.
Has anyone discovered a frequency list, in any format, that has one of these?
Thanks!

I took a look at Memrise, and this might be what you're looking for:
https://www.memrise.com/course/786354/1 ... iteration/
It has the 1000 most common Persian words transliterated into Latin script, with audio and Persian script as well. I have no idea what the source is or how good the quality is, because I don't know any Persian.

Routledge's Persian frequency dictionary has pronunciations. It's not cheap, but I'm scrolling through it on Google Books and so far it hasn't skipped any pages. No way to copy-paste though, if that's important.

Thanks, I really appreciate that - sadly this doesn't seem to be finished; they only got to a couple of hundred words. Maybe they will, someday...

It really isn't cheap - definitely beyond what I can justify, sadly.
It looks like a marvellous resource.
But I hadn't thought of looking on Google books - so thank you for that! I hadn't realised it has sample sentences, too...

Yeah, their frequency dictionaries are really good but unfortunately quite expensive. I can't justify them either. I'm learning Persian too, so will definitely keep an eye out for other options...

Excellent. I'll let you know if I find anything good.
I hope you get a chance to post in your log about how you are learning Persian - is your French good enough to use Assimil + Anki as per your usual method, or are you doing something a bit different?

Thanks for checking out the log! I am indeed doing Assimil + Anki with the French-base Assimil Persian course. I've only done the first 14 lessons (and I'm not doing a lesson every day), but I really like it so far. It's one of the Assimil courses with a fairly gentle learning curve. As of lesson 14, I've probably learned about 50 words, and the writing system is still being introduced. I know some people prefer the Assimil courses that pack more into each lesson, but I like this pace. Each lesson introduces a couple new things and reinforces what's come before. So doing a new lesson feels like a light, fun undertaking, not like I'm biting off more than I can chew. (At the other extreme is the Assimil Hindi course, which I like a lot too, but it's way more dense.)
How about you, what approach are you taking with your Anki cards? And I see in your signature that you've been reading... Anything you'd recommend?

Re: Persian Frequency lists
There's a 2000 Core vocabulary at https://www.persianpod101.com/ . I have saved it during my free premium week when I was first learning Persian.
But I have to disagree that a frequency list without vowels is useless. Persian does not have a great number of homographs, most words only have one pronunciation that you can look up on a dictionary. (try http://www.vajehyab.com/ ) But on the other hand those frequency lists are probably useless anyway, if they list unlemmatized forms.

My approach has been fairly varied so far - the focus is core vocabulary, and some basic grammar rules and verb forms. And I'm working througho one of the the memrise 'Basic Farsi' courses, which is a mix of vocabulary with sentences. The vocabulary selection isn't amazing, but I find the two-way practice with verbs in context pretty helpful, as are the word order puzzles for sentences. I don't find Persian syntax particularly intuitive!

So far mostly easy learners stuff on LingQ. I wanted to use Readlang, but I'm enjoying having premade reader-type stuff with full audio. I wanted to get into reading quickly, since I work with Iranians and a lot of the relevant vocabulary will only come through reading relevant texts. Even the big dictionaries (I have Haim) don't have it all.
In a few weeks I'll shift to the Bible and or a classic I can get as an audiobook. Again, tracking down books in English, Farsi, and Farsi audiobook has taken a while.
I keep intending to get into a real textbook, but don't much time outside my commute.
