Dude, Speakeasy, you rock!

Quite weird: When I looked at The Way to Danish, I realized I had that book back in the '80s. I bought it during Russian Basic in a great cafe they used to have in Monterey that served coffee and sold books, lots of language books among the stock. I also bought a NyNorsk (sp?) book there. No idea where these books have found themselves. Probably lost in one of my 18-odd moves.

I started looking at the reviews for Colloquial and TY/Complete. Thanks for the warnings.

*The Way to Danish: you can’t beat 10 hours of sentence-pattern drills and dialogues supported by concise notes on grammar.

Way to Danish (The): A Textbook in the Danish Language Written for Americans (1959, 1964, 1979, 1983), 306 pages, by Erling Norlev et al.; Munksgaard
Way to Danish (The): AUDIO Recordings – Indiana University CeLT
Out-of-print. Introduction to spoken Danish. Probably CEFR A2. Audio-lingual method. Approx. 10 hours of AUDIO recordings freely-available via the Indiana University CeLT website. Copies still available on the internet. Positive chatter on the HTLAL and the LLORG. Despite its age, this course still represents a good place to start building your chops.

Thank you for your kind words, and the comprehensive list you have contributed yourself. I'm particularly interested in The Way to Danish course, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere online. Unfortunately, the audio link is dead. Is the digital version of the book available anywhere? Thank you for your help.

SIDENOTE: As Speakeasy has not visited the forum in quite some time, I would appreciate if anyone who has the ability to reach out to them directly would help me out and do so. Thank you!

The CeLT page with the audio for The Way to Danish is still accessible through the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20170708003 ... chive.html
There are some inexpensive copies of the book for sale at abebooks.com.

I believe the Indiana University is in the process of moving their language resources to a new website/system. The Danish audio does not appear to have been migrated yet, but here is a link for when it has been: https://celtop.sitehost.iu.edu/portal/Danish/index.html

Hi guys! This is the best list of Dansk resources I ever did see!
Wanted to share an update on the "old" post, as I was looking for some pronunciation guides.
http://www.basby.dk/udtale.html: A revelation for Danish pronounciation and prosody, countless examples and exercises to train Danish pronunciation, for example a short film demonstrating the pronounciation of the soft d: http://www.basby.dk/F/F055/F055.html. Click above the table at Film: "made male". There’s also a list with 400 Danish verbs in all tenses – all with downloadable mp3-files and much more.

The true url is http://basby.dk/
Due to Flash being decommissioned, the embedded videos won't play for me, but a quick google search (for the previous page) led me to find this gem: http://basby.dk/fvu/index.htm
The first link is a list of all videos.

Have fun!

This is the link to Hippocrene's Beginning Danish audio made available due to many requests. As you may know, Hippocrene has been rolling out new editions of their books with the audio free online. Danish may have a revamp (it is needed) in the same style 2022.

So many wonderful resources here, I haven't looked through all of them but will.

My two cents as an intermediate/advanced learner:

Dansk radio & TV are a wonderful source of TV shows (many with subtitles and podcasts. There are apps for both.

I recently subscribed to a podcast and audio book service called Nextory. Loads of books and audio books in there, very useful for my favorite way of learning which is listening to audio books while reading the ebook. The Danish subscription also includes English audio and e-books, a huge selection

Bumping this thread...

I volunteered to update and maintain the Danish Resources thread, and I will get started on organizing that this week. If you want to add any resources, please add to the thread! I'll work on migrating everything to the first post.

I am only aware of one learner podcast with transcripts, and it is a fairly new one - anyone else know of any learner podcasts with transcripts?
