[Spanish] Después de que + subjunctive

The grammar rule that gives me the most rabia.
So I am just reading, as you do, and suddenly this pops up!
It looks weird to me but I decide to ignore it but the next day, bam!
So...... could the indicative be used in these examples? With a phrase like Iba a hacerlo después de que llegaras the subjunctive usage makes perfect sense but I am left confused with those two examples. Why do they take the subjunctive?
