There was a lot of blood in the room, over the bed, dripping onto the floor. Not a drop of blood stained this Hiro's hands as he, over several security shots, slit a man's throat, lay him on the bed, and left the room. The last shot had him looking directly at the camera, his eyes slightly wide as if he had just realized that he'd been watched.

Could you explain the meaning of "over several security shots" here? If shot means a photograph taken, what does "security shot" mean and why is the preposition "over" used here?

There are security cameras which take pictures in certain intervals, like one picture every second. They produce a series of distinct pictures (shots) instead of a video, which would take about 24 pictures per second. “Security shots” means the pictures taken by the security camera and “over” is used to describe the time span. For example, picture one shows killer drawing his knife. Picture two shows killer with the knife raised over his hand. Picture three shows killer with the knife at the victims’ throat...
