Modern Greek Pattern Drill Resources

I was wondering if anyone knew of the existence of some textbook with accompanying audio that makes extensive use of pattern-drill type exercises. Preferably, the resource would be something like Cortina's Russian course (for those who have made use of that). Thanks.

DLI/FSI Sentence-Pattern Drills?
Generally speaking, language courses based on the audio-lingual method, which enjoyed the wide-spread support of American academia in the 1960’s through the mid-1970’s, incorporated large quantities of sentence-pattern drills. While I have not come across any commercially-produced courses for Greek from that period, you might wish to review the contents of the DLI Greek Basic course and the FSI Greek Basic course, both of which are in the public domain and are freely available via Ericounet’s FSI-Languages.yojik website.

In addition to the above, you might considering visiting Glossika’s website. Should you not be interested in their current offer, it is possible that you might be able to negotiate the purchase of their previous selection of sentence-pattern exercises.

Wow. Thanks for the links. I knew about Greek FSI, but didn't really like how they did they accompanying audio. The DLI course, however, looks almost exactly what I am looking for. It looks like one of the most well put together courses I've seen. Do you guys know if you can buy a hard copy of the old DLI courses somewhere? Thanks.

During the period from the earlier 1970's through the early-to-mid 2000's the U.S. Government and, to a lesser extent, the Defense Language Institute, used to offer physical copies of their language courses for sale, most likely drawn from existing inventories. In addition, a number of publishers offered their own versions of the FSI courses for the more popular languages. Ultimately, as many of these materials became freely available in PDF and MP3 format via the internet, combined with other influences such as the advancing age of these courses and the constant evolution of tastes on the part of the consumers, the market for physical copies declined as did the stock of physical inventories.

Today, one can occasionally find remnants of these physical copies by searching the internet. In my experience the prices are often in the order of 25 $US per volume, plus shipping charges, which is rather steep. As an aside, during my numerous searches of the internet for DLI/FSI materials over the past 10 years, I do not recall ever having come across an offer for a physical copy of the DLI Greek Basic course.

If you do not want to use your own printer to prepare a physical copy of the DLI/FSI course manuals, you could always take/send the PDF files to your local copy/printer shop and have them print and bind the manuals. There are also numerous print-on-demand services on the internet which offer the same service. The only draw-back to this approach is that the price which could easily be North of 20 $US per volume.
